Strange Approach

Still flying tubes in Japan, I visited Yamagata in the north. I was IFR, and made to dance this merry jig:

Can anyone explain why?
It's a charming little rural airport in the Overland series, there wouldn't be conflicting traffic I'm sure.

I stopped asking myself why the default ATC behaved loco when once, at FL330, they (the Artificial Idiocy) instructed me to begin descent at 45nm from the airport I should have landed to. In spite of my valiant attempts and meteoric descent rates, they told me (after a lot of messages to hasten descent times) to go around when I was still at 15000 feet. :kilroy:

That was when I stopped using the default ATC as well and began flying online, helping myself when needed with charts and FSnavigator. :icon29:

With the correct meshes, virtual Japan is quite a great place to fly in... and I guess the real one as well... with its varied orography and nice places, even in default scenery. I remember I flew in a Beech the approach to an airport that, like Lukla (in FS at least) could be practically approached only from one runway, as the other was propped against a mountain. Can't remember the airport's name... I've tried finding it again, for a time now, uselessly too... :ernae:
