Swedish P-51D-5-NA ??

That Swede is shaping up nicely. :)

Still tinkering with "Mary Ann"...I Think I should still go ahead and do some wing skins, and try to match the different drab. What do you think?

I am very impressed by your skills, these Mustangs looks fantastic and since I am a "Swede" I have a soft spot for these two since they both have connections to Sweden. :jump:

here are a few wip shots of another Mustang that ended up in Sweden (but that is for a later post)

Ahh, I like it Jan!

I'm still fiddlin' with Mary Ann, re-did the nose art, and scaled it. Studied the stripes on the wings till my head aches, it appears like she had some pretty unique layouts on those d-day stripes... Refer to the photos, but I think I'm getting it close. Still need to add paint stripping on the wings, and tweak the spec. I think I'm finally satisfied with the drab.

P-51 Mustang in Sweden

Hi

Upload som pictures of J 26 P-51B & P-51D Mustang I found at the net.

And 2 skins: one for Warbirds P-51B nad one for Warwick Carter/Wozza P-51D.

The P-51B was the first Mustang in the RSAF (Interned in Sweden ex USAAF "Z HUB").

Plenty of skins of swedish P-51B & D Mustangs can be fount at RBDesings website.

The Warwicks Carter Mustang works ok in FSX+acceleration with the usual glassfix.

I had a look at RB designs, but couldn't find any Mustang paints, though that B model somehow looks familiar....

meanwhile, I found another pic of Sierra Sue, and it turns out the nose art had to be bigger:

and this is what she looked like later in life, flying as 26152 Gul Kalle (Yellow K) with F4 of the Royal Swedish AF:

Indian riding on a ponny

Hi

Here is a skin (for shockwaves old P-51D Mustang / FS9) with the Indian riding a ponny emblem.

Random history of the individial aircraft:

N.A. P-51D (J26) Mustang. Gul Harald [H] (Yellow Harald). / 26041. F16 Upplands Flygflottilj of Royal Swedish Air Force.

Was previously 44-72191 of the USAAF, and flew with 3rd sqn. on the F16 wing, based at Uppsala.

In 1952 she was sold to Israel were she flew with registration 350.

Beyond that, little is know.

I still can't find any P-51's on that site, do you have a direct link?

Meanwhile, spot the differences:

and of course, old 26152 aka Gul Kalle was sold to Nicaragua in 1953, where she flew as GN 91. I found no pics, but she may have looked something like this:

Keep it up Jan!

Almost done with the US version "Mary Ann" 44-13345, then can move on to her livelihood as 26003. Having a hard time deciphering if the Swedish first just removed USAAF markings, and then applied there own, or if they painted it entirely. The only photos I've found, including 26003 in the shop at the end of it's life, indicate that essentially the US olive drab, and grey remained, with maybe some touch-up.

See the photo, no grey where the D-day stripes were on the fuselage.

Also curious to the art on wings palette, showing it with grey on the belly scoop with the yellow "B" - maybe this was after it wore the white "A". then went back to "B"... More study needed!

Should have some initial screens of this WIP soon also,
Joseph
