SZD-30 Pirat released

Yes, if you use the mouse wheels to set it!!! :173go1: :icon_lol:

If that doesn't work, your install might be borked. In that case I'd try a reinstall first. It worked right from the start here.

Thanks guys :) I hope you have as much fun as I had while modeling her.

You have to be very easy on the brakes, I land without brakes, it's easier ;)

To run winch you have to click yes when FSX asks you to allow dll gauge to load.

Since I'm very new to the winch stuff (been using the towplane since the FSX release) I'd like to ask what parameters are most useful to get a proper start and solid height. I've set it to 500/50/100 and while it got me airborne quickly I could not make much height out of it. Or was it lack of thermals around YLIL?

Turn schematic thermals on in weather settings, it's 'cheating', but it's easier to find them. 1km of tow rope should be enough.

Downloading now. Looks stunning. I don't download many gliders for FSX. In fact this will only be my second one after the amazing L.A.K. Genesis 2. I'm sure this will be a worthy companion.

AGH!!!
Damn Simviation again (how I miss Avsim),and again is not working for me (as usual), I will just have to wait another 24 hours for FS.com to host it!!!!!

Thanks Michal and team:applause::engel016:

She's a long way from home, lol, but it is nice and warm!

Haha, I was just gliding the exact same place in the exact same paint...

What a little beauty! Just took a relaxing flight around Tongass Fjords whilst listening to some Buddha Sounds chillout music :wiggle:. Excellent stuff. Muchas gracias empeck.

P.S. Can anyone recommend any other gliders, with HQ VC's, that are suitable for flying in Acceleration? I already have the L.A.K. Genesis 2.

My Pirat, and Genesis 2 are the only native gliders I know (and the default one of course). Aerosoft is working on a payware glider, should be out in few days.

FSGliders has a lot of gliders, some of them should be native FSX as far as I can tell - like the LS8-18 or the DG-202.

My fault, didn't know that.

I have to say, I'm impressed how many times she was downloaded, it's 646 downloads from Simviation right now, I thought a glider won't be that popular...

The 'LET Blanik L13' over at FSGliders is well worth having too. http://www.fsglider.de/p_sg4_e.htm

To get the best out of gliding, you should get SimProbe which reads the mesh profile beneath your flight and communicates with CumulusX to generate lift.

See here http://carrier.csi.cam.ac.uk/forsterlewis/soaring/sim/fsx/dev/sim_probe/

and here http://www.luerkens.homepage.t-online.de/peter/

Find some nice mountainous scenery, set the wind up to blow onto a mountain ridge line and go ridge soaring, it's a blast.

Downloading as I write these words. FSX sailplanes are a gigantic step ahead of FS9, in my opinion.

Using the FSX default sailplane, I found that to stay on the towrope of the towplane, I must open the spoilers. Leaving the gear down may be a small help as well.

Another website http://www.luerkens.homepage.t-online.de/peter/ OOPS !!!! We were writing about the same time, sorry.

Pirat works well with WinchX too ;)

Unfortunately Pirat's gauges doesn't work with CumulusX generated lift. I'll try to fix it but I don't know if I'll be able to do it.

Awesome work Empeck! That cockpit is spectacular.

How did you do the textures? The instrument panel face looks like the real thing, and how did you get that spatter paint on the sides of the VC? Did you find a texture of that?

Class A work man! The Saab Safir team will be knocking on your door....
