T-28D Trojan released. payware

I love it! :applause:

One question does it have raindrops on the canopy? and fog effects? ... ok 2 questions. Of course I bought it already, I guess I can answer the questions myself.

Ant, I flew your demo this afternoon from Santa Paula to Pt Mugu to Van Nuys. Truly outstanding! A sweet flyer and lovely VC. When I buy it it's going to have a permanent home at my AirAm base at L20A.

However I noticed something I have never experienced with any other aircraft in FSX. I had an echo and some, I guess you would call it compression artifacts in the audio of contacting ATC. It sounds cool and realistic especially with a vintage round engine plane. Radio audio isn't always 5 by 5.

Did you do some sneaky effects with the audio somehow?

Highest Regards,
Obie
financially grounded aviator

Not sure of the cause of that, one of the beta testers had a problem with noise artifacts from the NAV signal.

Just make sure the comm radio isn't set to T/rec+G which turns on both com1 and com2. If com1 and com2 are set to the same channel it may be the problem. T/rec+G plays the selected channel plus the guard frequency as well.

No fuel boost on this variant (although the B and C do have ones).

Fuel is fed by gravity from both wings to a central sump and an engine driven pump sucks it up from there.

No rain effects or fog effects, it just would've killed performance.

Thanks for the quick reply Anthony. I'd noticed that page in the manager, but when I move my throttle lever, it only ever goes down to 0. It will go up to around 16300, as it should (between 16296 and 16384), but never below 0. The Throttle key input says: "KEY_THROTTLE_DECR_SMALL." Not sure what that is about, but it got me thinking. I checked my control settings, and in FSX, I have my two CH throttle levers mapped to Engine 1 and Engine 2. I know that the Dodo, for instance, won't work this way, needing the throttle assigned in FSX to "Throttle Axis" itself. So, I applied the Dodo profile I've set up in FSUIPC to the Trojan, and voila! It works fine now.

Something to keep in mind for those who don't use the regular Throttle Axis control in FSX. I wonder if those who use FSUPIC for all controls (not using FSX at all) might have trouble since you need to grab and remap for this bird to work correctly. It's probably time I bit the bullet and really learned how to use FSUIPC and just map all my controls through it.

EDIT: Okay, with the throttle fixed, I could take off and try her out. Excellent work! I did a BEAUTIFUL stall and spin and recovery in her. She's got a very nice feel of inertia and mass in the air. And she sure is pretty to look at. If FSPilotShop doesn't have her by tomorrow, I think they are going to lose a sale to one of the others.

Thanks for the info, there are a number of ways FSX can change throttle and I read them all, I will probably have to double check them to make sure they work properly.

FSUIPC users should be OK as long as they don't use KEY_THROTTLE_SET or KEY_MIXTURE_SET. I read everything else but I use those two commands to resend to FSX.

Also, if you use FSUIPC to control the cowl flaps then don't use the cowl flaps switch in the VC as this won't work well. But, if you have cowl flaps assigned to a lever using FSUIPC then you probably won't need to use the cowl flaps switch in the VC.

Bought it flew it love it, if one could love such a thing, took me a couple of goes to start it, but sorted now. bounces around nicely with accufeel. Doing flight from essendon to hobart see if I dont get lost, mind you have flown there plenty of time for work.

Had to configure Joystick throttle as Throttle, in FSUIPC, if I used throttle 1 it would not go down to minimum. it would run from half to full only.

DX10?

Any one else flying with DX10? I shut off all interior lighting when I took this screeny?

Thank You!!!!

:salute: Thanks Ant, for a great plane. I flew a T-28 when I was with VT-27 at Corpus Christi, Tx in Basic Flight Training back in the early 70's. It brings back some great memories. You did a great job.

How do you rate the sounds from within the cockpit and flight model? I'm curious to hear from a T-28 pilot before I start making changes to anything.

And still waiting on FS PilotShop to post it.

Thanks for getting back.

Great product Anthony.

I didn't get to bed until 1:30 am last night. I had no idea it was that late. The time "flew by" messing with the T-28 and reading through the manual. Plenty to re-read.

I will make due without the fog and rain effects.

Thanks again for such a great product.

Finally have the interest in watching the old Jeff Ethell "Wonderful World of Warbirds" T-28 check-out again. In it I recall he describes how the T-28 was designed to have all of the similar characteristics to the early jets, and that it is a very easy aircraft to learn to fly, but that it demands the type of attention you'd expect for a heavy, fast, complex radial-engined aircraft.

Ant's New T-28D.

Ant's,

One of the best if not THE best flight sim aircraft to date, bar none ! If y'all don't get this one, you're gonna be sorry my friend's......
After being around a whole ramp of ex-US Navy VNAF T-28D's and guiding them in and out of Nha Trang AB RVN for a year I can assure you the sound's are spot on......
The "D" model had a single spoiler located under the fuselage cockpit area but could not find it on this model. I noticed this as I was making an ILS into KICT this morning and was a little "hot" and "high" and was looking for the spoiler, (slash key), and got no effect. I probility missed reading about it in the flight manual....

Thank's Ant's for this masterpiece....:salute:.....

From what I believe I understand, the example that Anthony copied (a real-world restored example) they've taken out the speed brake and rebuilt that section into a baggage compartment. From the manager/control window, you can select to open the baggage door, and this is in the location where the stock speed brake would be found.

I am and have been for about 8 months now. Do you have Steve Parsons new Dx10 Shaders?

No I haven't installed the shaders yet, A month ago I had to do a total re-install of FSX and other than shimmering runway textures it has been looking good and running smooth w/DX10.
I did how ever make several '.cfg' changes that help DX-10 run better.
I will install them and see what happens though. I can longer fly with DX9!:blind:

Re the speed brake:

A models never had them and with the A model only having an 800hp engine they probably weren't needed.

B+C models with the larger 1425hp engine do have speed brakes (and baggage compartments, the speed brake is before the baggage compartment, you just can't open the baggage compartment with the speed brake down as you would hit them together).

D models, being converted A models miss out on the speed brake. BUT some D models were converted B models so these may have had a speed brake.

I will look into Rogers DX10 issue.

Hi Ant,
I don't have an issue in Dx10 as I'm using Steve Parsons shaders, in fact your model is very Dx10 compliant:applause:

not to get too far off topic - but has the blinking night lighting been fixed yet?

in DX10 in evening or dawn or full darkness, the landing lights and ground lighting all blink in unison with your strobe light...kills DX10 for me - among other lighting issues...
