T6 (RCAF Harvard) repaints

In FS2020 we had some really good RCAF repaints for the Harvard but these are few and far between for the FS2020 version, and the two we do have are postwar. Anyone know of any repainter planning to issue wartime RCAF T6 liveries? (BCATP era).

I'll leave that to someone else Jankees. I'm putting 12 hours a day into writing the new Flight Sim book right now, and would not be able to learn the new skill to make those modifications at this time. Thanks for the suggestion however.
 
The ideal would be one of the first two (46 or 54) at this page... https://harvards.com/our-aircraft/? since both of these served in the BCATP years.

Jankees, please understand I was not expecting you to do it, but if you did, that would be a bonus to say the least.

And... once my book is published, you will receive a signed copy as a thank you for everything you have added to this community... whether or not you repaint a Harvard!!.

Another vote for Canada! My great uncle flew the Fleet Finch and Harvard before going off to the Med in a Vickers Wellington.

(And Jankees, if you're breaking out the wartime Canada paintbrush, would love to see a Canadian Rapide or two! There are some nice RCAF and civilian Canadian schemes.)

Kenneth, I can do a couple of liveries from my C-FVMG #412 template in GIMP if you are planning to use the 2020 model. I don't know about the 2024 Asobo model, I can't find any useable files to form a model for Substance Painter. But I still have the 412 template for GIMP, just need to change a few markings. Email me some images if you'd like, or point me in the direction of the liveries you are seeking. Cheers!

Hi Doug

Let me take a look... I will use this one from JanKees when flying FS2024. As for 2020, seems to me that "2766" outside the Haldimand library in Dunnville would make a suitable companion when using your scenery.

Jankees, you might also consider releasing that 2020 version in addition to the 2024. Looks great. And what a choice you made... I flew in "46" three decades ago.

Do you know if it is possible to re-paint the Asobo "Gunslinger" T-6? It may have the wrong canopy, and a few modern instruments, but the panel is basically that of the Canadian Harvard Mk.II. Sigh... I wish we had a real Harvard. complete with long exhausts, correct panel and canopy for Mk.II and Mk.IV... Come to think of it, a Canadian Tiger Moth with canopy would be nice too... And a Canadian Anson..... Oh the wishlist grows.
 
Thank you Jankees. Just as I have the weak spot for the Chipmunk.. But for Harvard too, especially "46" as it was the first of four Harvards I got to fly in. Did you see my question to Doug? Is the "Gunslinger" T-6 repaintable? To my knowledge nobody has tried it yet. It has the Canadian instrument panel layout. Pity about the canopy though.

Hi guys, Ken, looks like it's possible for MSFS's Gunslinger. There is a texture folder, it's not overly complicated I feel, I think if the exterior textures were changed and linked to the Gunslinger model, we could use that as a template for the RCAF Harvards sure. I have been through all of the 2024 T-6 folders on my computer, there is nothing for repainters to use. Everything is encrypted and locked away in unrecognizable file types. It's insulting actually. So for 2020, yes - 2024, no. Unless someone else knows different.
 
I think it should be paintable. With my paints, I point the sim toward s the regular Reno T-6. If you were to point it to the Gunslinger version, I don't see why that shouldn't work. I only have the regular version, so I can't try it, sorry.

Thanks Jankees, I will give it a go. By the way, I notice the RAF roundels on the wings of 46 are matte when the sun glints on them from an angle, while the rest of the wing is gloss. Not sure if you intended that. Lovely job none-the-less. I liked the detail of adding Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum underneath the registration.
