Hi pilots,
I just want to check the situation in MSFS2024 with you all: is there a general problem with TACAN and ADF instruments in MSFS2024 ?
Recently, I have been unable to get any reliability from my ADF in many planes, and it seems TACAN is affected just in the same way. Two simple examples are a recent flight in the JPL Cessna 152, a plane I used a lot in MSFS2020. I love to use the ADF in that plane. When flying near Seattle, I would set it to the frequency of the VOR nearby on the way to Darrington for example. But in MSFS2024, I'm not getting any signal to follow, no matter what :/
Same yesteray, we did a flight with my brother from Meiringen Air Base in Switzerland (excellent freeware scenery is available for that base) to Aviano Air Base in Italy. There's a TACAN (AVI, code 62X if I'm not mistaken) which might have made our navigation easier... but it didn't work:
- I tried setting the ADF frequency directly from the MSFS2024 tablet (button SET when you display the frequencies on the map) but it had no effect.
- I tried setting the correct TACAN code 62X using the Jester menu but it didn't have any effect either.
I do remember having ONE successful reception of the ADF during a test flight with the JPL 152 though, but that was only once. What's the issue here ?
PS: of course the problem is the same no matter if the addon plane is MSFS2024 native/default or not.
