Floating Houses in Roche Harbour,San Juan Islands

Saw this from the air had to investigate...

I tinkered with the glass texture (perspex_T.dds) and came up with a bit darker glass and it became more reflective, give it a try. :ernae: http://forum.siminsider.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=382

Love the darker glass,Bob
Got it on the 8 & 10

Hey All,

Ive been working on that wild paint scheme still. I decided I liked them both, lol... I ended up creating one with Skirts (W-8) that has all the stripes and things on it. That is the modern one. Then I made a simple version, something you would find back in the late 1950's. This one has basics everywhere and no wheel skirts and fairings so you can land in the grass fields.

The package comes with both FS2004 and FSX formats.

Here are the features;

Early version has;
* Black bracer bar frame assembly
* Wood floor
* Black leather interior
* Black leather seats
* Different era paint scheme (less radical)
* Pilot is sporting a vintage camping flannel shirt
* Vintage ice box in the rear
* Landing gear is without skirts for making grass field landings in the wilderness
* Non excessive use of stripes (Conservative version)

Modern version has;
* Red Bracer Bar frame assembly
* Red diamond tucked leather padded interior
* Red leather seats
* Red carpet
* Modern day ice chest
* Pilot is wearing a brilliant hawaiian shirt
* Landing gear is fitted with sport wheel skirts and leg fearings
* Excessive use of stripes (Radical version)

Note that you can create your own version from this, taking interior and exterior pieces and join them in a new folder (or existing folder) and create your own mixture of textures for interior and exterior. For instance, if you want different color seats, find one that has the color you want, drag out the seats texture for that model (cabin2) and drop that into the folder. If you like the tail section of the older version to go with the modern one, just drag and drop it in. Fairly easy.

Think if it as being like Lego's. :d

Download here for now;

I will upload to SOH and Flightsim as soon as I can.

That's just awesome Bill!! Love the new interiors and the ability to switch'em around! Think this one is my favorite now :applause::ernae:

Those are really great, Bill! Especially like the vintage one--that's the kind of Tailwind I remember from my homebuilt days.

Thanks for fixing the suction gauge, too. :ernae:

Look forward to seeing that flannel shirt and vintage ice chest as soon as the download is done. :running:

cheers,
steve :wavey:

Bob I love your repaints and this may come off as a dumb question but I was wondering if there was a way to use your paints with a more modern cockpit that isnt retro? Is there a way to use a modern cockpit on these paints?

Edit: Just saw your post Bill. Thanks for the help in this matter.

I think you just have to exchange two textures but Bill would know better about the interior as I haven't touched any of it, yet, LOL.

well I tried using the cabin 2 and 3 and placing them in my new folder I made for you paint. I overwrote the files that were already there and that changed the seats and floor. Which texture would I have to copy into my new texture folder to get rid of the wood paneling and use the paneling in the lightning varient of the plane?

I have also noticed that the sound of the engine doesnt like to change except for when you firewall it or when you have it at idle. Everything in between is the same sound and I know a real engine doesnt sound like that. Is it supposed to be like that or do I have a problem?

Tailwind_Cabin3_t
Tailwind_Cabin2_t
Tailwind_CabinW10_t

Those are the 3 textures that need replaced I believe.

Thanks Bob, that did the trick. Now I have your paint in retro and modern flavor! I'm still wondering about the sound though...

a big compliment to bill for the excellent paintkit I just looked into it to view for the opportunity to paint that beautiful plane

I will purchase this weekend !

That sound issue really bothers me, and I made it, lol..

I even tried switching out the sound config with another to see if that would fix it, and it didnt, so its somewhere in the engine. Go figure. The engine was originally the Piper J-3 Cub, (airfiles templates) modified with cubic inches (cylinders) and some other small items, (number of cylinders, etc, etc). Nothing on an RPM curve.

So, for me, as a developer, it is a mystery.

Great paint Bill, hope you don't mind, but with a little editing, I fixed it up to the W10 as well.

Whelp, it's Friday, it has been a busy week (Thank God), so now it's time to go flyin :running:

Hey, no worries. Its easily done. For those that do not know; Just drop the texture into the W10 main folder and create a Registry Block for it.

The skirtless version (-B) has a plain white rudder, so you may want the tail from the regular N370Y for the W10.

Also, you can adjust the W8 to fly as fast as the W10 (say installing the same engine) by duplicating the prop (3bladed) and the engine settings from one to to the other and Voila, they both fly the same speeds.

Its all in the engines... Weight and cubic inches...

Just had to share some screenies of the Tailwind.

Took a flight this morning with Bills latest paint job, edited for the W-10. Could have never made this flight in real life, as the weather was lousy with high winds, but it sure was fun in the sim :mixedsmi:
