Team Outhouse RTWR 2012 Practice 1

Baton back at YCDU.

Duenna needs to be run in supervisor and figure out why the game crashed on a view change.
Horray for early practice and, first baton flight in 4 years. :wiggle:

added: Was trying to get a visual on the runway through fog by switching to spot view and, the game hung up for some reason.

Great to see you guys jumping in but just as a 'heads up' we are supposed to be heading west to YMJM to pick up the first 'required' airport. :icon_lol:

Pick your own route but remember the practice rules regarding leg lengths (551NM max. for a regular leg, 1402 NM max. for a wildcard leg) and try to think at least one leg ahead. It's no use dropping the baton at airport 'A' if the next pilot can't get to airport 'B' because the leg is too long. In most places in the world this is not an issue but some places (like western Oz, China, northern or eastern Russia etc.) have a small number of airports a long way apart.

I was gonna take a quick blast to YYTA to shake the dust off FSX but got "Cant connect FSUIPC to FSX,IPC request contains bad data" from Duenna. Im using v.0891 of Duenna. Will I need to reinstall it?
For a proper flight with the real baton YCAG might be better)

I've just been studying our options in Google Earth with the FSX plugin and the only real choice out of YCDU is YFRT. It would be a couple of hops then to the required airport at YMJM.

Andy YYTA does not appear to be in the FS database of airports (not in FSX anyway and I haven't checked FS9 yet). Don't forget you can't use additional airports in scenery packs like the OzX series during the race, they must be the ones supplied by default in FS9 and FSX so that all teams/competitors have the same choices.

As to the Duenna issue you should be using the base pack (Rev. 44) plus Revision 131 to bring it up to last year's standard. Check your PM's for a message too.

I had a similar error. I installed a FSUIPC pack that I got from the website listed in the Duenna and, it resolved it.

Cheers Larry.YYTA must have come with OzX on DVD as it is really tiny. The others on great circle mapper like YCAG arent on FSX either.
is there a "raw" database for airports to avoid add ons?

Well one option would be to disable your add-on scenery packs for practice/race legs and re-enable them afterwards. That way you could be sure of having a default database.

If you use Google Earth at all you can add the FSX plug-in for it which shows every default airport in FSX and they can be turned on or off by continent, country or state/province.

If you use 'Flight Sim Commander' I believe you can select which airports it sees (i.e. just the defaults or the defaults + add-ons) but I am not 100% sure on that as I don't use it much.

Ah good point.

I've printed the rules out and highlighted everything now.

I knew I crashed for a reason. :)

Just so we don't forget .....

...the baton is currently rolling around on the apron at YCDU! :icon_lol:

Oh, and the only viable option out of there is YFRT.

:running:

Hey I had to get my after work nap in. :icon_lol:

@ the two new guys...

That brings back memories. I crashed my first time in practice too. Who knew they put mountains in Greenland at night?

Actually I am pretty sure Spike was at that practice

For the night shift so we'll have a general idea on which way to go, where are we headed after YMJM?
