The B24 Guy has released his namesake!

Very Fine AC

I just finnished my first flight. Landed without a crackup. Had to land on MR's North Field, but I dood it. This is one of the best 4 engine AC I've had the pleasure of flying. I loved the extra views. Now I just have to load up with a few bombs and go find something to blow up. Great work B24 Guy.

Bouncing Bombers

Can anyone tell me why my wingman are jumping around behind me on the runway? My AC (Player) sits still, but all of the others are boucing up and down before takeoff. One or two may actually flip over and crash. Once airborne this activity disappears.

Hi Worthless,

Well when I changed the way the nose gear sits and made adjustments on the contact points I forgot to check the AI for proper operation.

I also just discovered that I did not fully split the textures on the main LOD.

Give me a day and I should have it fixed.

Regards,
B24Guy
PS Your not worthless at all I would not have known if it were not for you.:salute:

Normally, if you don't look @ them in rear view, they won't do that :icon_lol:. Actually, it is most likely a contact point thingy as Scott says but I have also found (quite by accident) that 'leaping Lenas' can also be caused by having more than one aircraft in the folder with the same .MDL name.

Take your time. It pains me to even mention a problem. I'm having a blast ( no pun ) blasting the Pacific to bits. This AC is the best level bomber of all I have flown. Take off, landing, stability in flight, bombing accuracy; it's a dream. I'm hitting targets from 15,000 feet, on the nose, everytime.
I'm still not sure why I'm running out of gas on long flights, withing the AC range, but I just hit the refill buttons and I'm good.

Don't worry about the name. When you have a last name like Worth you can't avoid the nickname.

Worthless,
No problem if you don't mention a problem it won't get fixed and I want it to be right.

So everyone here is OH fix number 2. I redid the contact points in the Airfile and finished spliting the Main LOD textures.
I can't beleve that I split all the other LOD's but forgot the main one.
I also changed the stance some. Please test it out and let me know.

Test Pilot to B-24 Guy

The new aircraft.cfg seems to have fixed the bounce completely.

I'm not sure about the MDL file. I couldn't get it to work. The AC just won't show up at all. Changed back to the previous one and all is well again. I noticed the new MDL lacked the "Liberator" term.

Previously - B24D_Liberator.MDL......
New - B24D.MDL

Since I only know how to fly 'em and don't have a clue about what makes them work, this may make no difference.

Opps, I always seem to forget something.

Just change the file name to B24D_liberator and that will do it.
MDLC runs in DOS mode and filenames are limited to 8 letters.
I forgot to rename the MDL before uploading.

Hi,
Finally got around to actually loading up and flying the Overhauled B-24. Quite a masterpiece.
Now we need to get more repaints. The de-mirrored texture should help inspire a few of our own Michaelangelos.

I am seeing an issue with the 2D panel. When I go into another view than forward the panel goes black and CFS freezes or the curser goes into crazy mode.
I am running Windows 7 in 64 bit mode.

This is the same issue that one sees with the YAS Spitfire panel when it has the rear view mirror enabled.

I resolved the issue by removing all the "Fixed Window" entries from the panel.cfg.

Just an FYI as I don't think there is any way to fix this.

.....Now we need to get more repaints. .....

Hi,

I am working to adapt Lindsay Watts's desert camo demirrored repaint into B-24D "Hail Columbia", which took part to the Ploesti raid. It will come in real handy to fly Rami's Ploesti refinery mission, thanks to the great stocker fps performance.

I also have ready alternative prop discs with new details for the entire overhual collection. For the B-24D I have a new dp file ready with Dbolt's US bombs, including Rocktser22's depth bombs and the AI drop developed by Tango Romeo.

Providing Lindsay will give me permission, I'll have to upload the "Hail Columbia" repaint at his website only, since the base skin was repainted by him.

Cheers!

I have the same problem with Windows 7. Win7 just doesn't like the rear view panel. Same with mrror view in other AC. That said however, all the other B-24 side view panels work for me though. Nothing to do for it but remove the rear view panel. Problem solved. I still have a rear view, just not a panel view. A very small issue when compared to this AC's other great attributes.

Likewise

I have the same problem even with side views with some aircraft. As Braveheart mentioned earlier in this thread, a way around the problem is to resize the offending bitmaps from 1024 X 768 to 640 X 480. I use Photoshop to do this. The resolution is not as good but it does stop the annoying crashing of the game, especially when you have a bandit on your tail.

Allen, i'm not clear about your question, but Gaucho's image attachments have been downloaded approximately 25-28 times as of this posting. It would appear that his intentions are for us to convert them (save) to bmp format in order to use them, since you can't use them in jpg format.

You just can't save his .jpgs as .bmps. The jpg compression has messed them up badly.

Try These

Not sure what your Jpg to BMP conversion did, but mine worked fine.

Try these, and change the overall image size if necessary.

NOTE: The above panels were mislabeled - that should read B-24 BMPs.zip
