Finally, Dash 7 Revisited

Working hard at getting the Dash 7 -101 cargo hauler ready for prime time now that the Grumman projects are getting pushed aside.

Mike Kelly volunteered to do some serious textures here so I am totally restructuring the model for detailed mapping.

I have the fuselage mapped, and now preparing the wings and all the parts.

Bernt Stolle wanted to do the flight model, expecially those PT-6A engines performance, so I have passed the FM over to him.

Bernt was a critically important team member of our original Dash 7 project back in 2002, 10 years ago.

I should finish up the mapping this week and off to Mike's paint shop she goes.

Your DHC-7's have allways been my Favorite aircraft in FS since the original release back in the FS2002 days.I remember standing in the Cockpit of one of these many times as a kid while traveling (back when you could visit during flights) on Time Air when they got these brand new birds. http://www.airliners.net/photo/0557075/M/
Makes my heart skip a beat seeing this come up on your work bench Milton.

... and happier when it gets off the workbench...
+1... ;)
Co-incidentally a whole raft of repaints for the previous version drifted through flightsim a day or so ago!

And it really is one of the best FS models, ever, so thoroughly worked over.
I'm sure the update will attract as much attention, been a while since we all did those STOL airliner manoeuvres.

This is really great news for those of us who haul stuff in and out of bush strips. :applause: :applause:

Milton, your Dash 7 has always had a place in my sim.

Looking forward to the release. :jump:

Pete.

Thanks guys. Mapping is going well so far today, working on the wings and all the various connected parts. Hope to get that all done today.

One of the early great FS planes! I am sure Bernt will do a good job on this one as he has been working hard on figuring out the intracies of the PT6 for fS. I enjoyed flying the cargo combi version under some very challenging conditions in Alaska, the capabilities for short strips and bad conditions were impressive. Just too complex of a design and to small a niche market to make the plane really successful. At the time they were supposed to pop up with STOL runways at major airports. No such thing happened so a plane mostly without a reason. The simpler Dash 8 largely supplanted it for commuter work.

Sure it will be a fun bird!

Just spoke with Bernt via Email. He has made great progress on the Dash 7 FM regarding takeoff rollout and climb rates for 2, 3, and 4 engines. Flaps lift, drag, and pitch now accurate for all flaps settings. (Bernt Stolle was a Dash 7 pilot like Tom Fliger in a previous life.)

On the home front, invested all day yesterday (minus a couple hours at United Way for a meeting) remapping the exterior. All major body parts now completed and moving on to the smaller parts.

This is the beauty I have been waiting for. she'll be put to work at my VA running Air Tindi routes and Air Greenland.

Excellent Dash! I use to watch them at Denver/Stapleton many moons ago. Looking goo...Great!

Most excellent Milton!!!

Just the other day I was thinking of digging out the FS9 version and seeing how it'd do in FSX. Thrilled you've got FSX SP2 Acell in mind, even if primarily intended for FS9. Very considerate of you. It'd be nice of the paints Markus (Wild Bill) and others did way back will still work - but regardless, she'll be eagerly anticipated.

Many kind thanks!!

Thanks guys.

Believe me there is nothing wrong with current Dash 7 IMO with all those repaints available (over 100 done over the last 10 years, and the model has been updated 3 times in that 10 years).

Here at SOH is a portover version I uploaded last year at PC Pilot's request so they could include it on their CD. That should hold you for a long time with all the old paint schemes.

The new Dash 7 is just too changed to remain compatible. The mapping is much more refined for details, the interior is different, Nigel is doing all new sounds for it, and the FM is all new.

Today I am about finished the exterior details, only 4 minor parts left.

Well Milton your commitment is really breathtaking, everyone of your models is wonderful to fly and nicely build! :applause:
I'm looking forward seeing more pictures of the new Dash-7! ^^

May I ask you which other aircrafts you want to lunch? And if possible a Short Skyvan would be fine too, due to the turboprop fraction.

Best regards,
Elmar

Re: same

Unlike this one that will definitely "Haul the Mail" :jump: LOL Too much fun. She runs the quarter a little slow on first try but she will do 380MPH in the quarter before I am done. :isadizzy:

I always wanted a fuel burner. When will it be finished? I agree with your dazed friend above.

Looking Good, Milton. I have the original Dash-7 and quite a few repaints for it. Nice to see that you are putting a new one together. :applause::salute: Now, on the subject of that dragster.... :isadizzy:LOL!!
