The Just Flight Spit has appeared on the radar

whilst it looks a lot better than the FS9 version, its gonna have to be really good to beat the a2a spit
...let alone the RealAir Spit.

Looking at the cockpit shots I'd say job done - in that area at least. I thought this was going to be a Mk V, but whatever - it's a Spitfire, so it's mine!whilst it looks a lot better than the FS9 version, its gonna have to be really good to beat the a2a spit

It does look really, really good! I love the attention to areas like the plumbing, wiring, items like the cockpit lights and primer, trigger button/spade grip, and the later-gunsight and canopy release parts look awesome - I love when a company goes to lengths to model the parts of the canopy in detail, since it is something you see so much of. This type of effort really shows a passion for the aircraft type.
I'll be getting this Mk1 without doubt, but I would really, really be happy if a MkV (the best of the Spitfire line) were produced with the same level of detail - wink, wink, Baz.

I definitely wish someone would make a Mk. V, so much so that I was considering doing one myself. This does look like a nice model though and there's always room for more Spitfires in my virtual hangar.
Baz uses Gmax, Michal, not Max, hence no rendered WIP screenies, always in game. Subsequently no renders = no texture baking. ( Gmax doesn't do renders )
Sure's a tough job ( Mission Impossible ??.... ) to beat the RA and A2A Spits, gotta admire Baz for taking up the challenge!

I thought they were working on a Mark V. The Aeroplane Heaven site shows a Mark V ...maybe its both a Mark 1 and V?

I've been yearning to be able to have the basis of getting this one into FSX, done to the 'nth' degree:

- Having seen this one in person, I don't think I have ever had the same feelings about another aircraft (except perhaps a certain Mustang). I think anyone who has had the privileged of flying a Mk.V Spitfire has had a great boost of happiness in their lives. I know of one Spitfire pilot in particular, who has flown both his and others Mk.IX's, as well as a Mk.XIV, and still strongly wants to experience flying the Mk.V, for all that it provides in the most perfect bundle.
(I once combined the flight dynamics of the A2A Spitfire Mk.Ia, with that of AH's Spitfire Mk.V, in FS9, keeping the power-aspects of the Mk.V in place, and I don't think I have ever experienced flying such an as enjoyable warbird in flight sim).

Right time to come clean and clear up a few things.
1) This is a totally new, FSX dedicated model, built from scratch.
2) Actually Jan, we use 3DS Max.We only use renders for our readmores as I believe renders are cheating when presented as screenshots.Especially when models have been sub-divided to make them look smoother.
3) I don't like texture baking that much as it tends to make things "dreary"- we prefer to texture the details as they are in real life - it is our point of difference.
4) I realise we will never be able to build anything like A2A or RealAir so I have asked myself why we bother really. (sorry but these immediately and predictably negative comments start to get ridiculous after a while) I notice the lads at Just Flight asked somebody to supply compared shots with the RealAir Spit. Nobody appears to have obliged.
Now, down to some details.
Exterior wise, a fully detailed Merlin is under the hood. The "correct"for the period, radio set slides out of the hatch and the cockpit is highly detailed.
The cockpit contains a huge amount of working systems. We even have the remote contactor working and there is a pull-down night shade for the gear indicator lights. The gear lever is lockable and inoperative unless it is unlocked, as per the real thing.
LetsGetRowdy has been beta testing, I am sure he can tell you what this one is like....

Hi John, how's tricks mate?
Yes we have the MkV well and truly under way here.It will be along a little later.
The work we have done for Just FLight covers the early years and includes the two-blade flat top Mk1 from the Battle of France period.
Thanks for the kind words, the canopy will jettison with the red ball and the canopy catch casting even carries the correct casting number and date. Maybe we need to get out more...
