The Ongoing Mystery Aircraft Thread Part Deux.

A bit confusing, this one. The Ca123 was intended to have retractable gear, to compete with the DC2, and indeed there is a photo of such a prototype about (see below).

But the earlier prototype (or perhaps it was modified) had the fixed gear as shown in your pic. I have seen both designations applied to both machines !

Thanks Robert. I checked the Caproni bible and they had the panted version as the 122. Like Lefty said, have seen the designation applied to both.

Onward with a moody twin.

Not a DD build Chris. Don't have the exact date but I think was tested around 1929. Apparently it was not accepted by the Navy.

I had this as the Latham 49. The last design before they merged into another firm.

Not much information about it.

Open board then-

Have not found any other photos. The tiny bit of info came from another forum, I think over at Secret Projects.

Now has anyone related the tale of the aerobatic version of this aeroplane, the BA Cupid Stunt, and its pilot who suffered from Spoonerism..... ! :biggrin-new:

The floater first appeared as a land plane and was then converted. Tested in this configuration around 1915.
