BTW, in your honour I'm about 30 min from Funchal in the Short S.30. Had to borrow one that was diverted to Agadir by the Foreign Office, instead of the usual "Sandy" from Southampton.

On the subject of old times, had to do a double take when taking a refreshment at Edinburgh airport on the way out...caught a glimpse of this out of the window !

Welp, two of our little flying boat were built in 1938. It went through extensive testing to try to cure a number of deficiencies.
 
Sticking with seaplane theme. A new one. Uli I didn't mean you were in Portugal just into Portugal for finding pictures of aircraft.
I will be in Germany late Oct/Early Nov on river cruise on the Danube.

One built in 1928 by the original company, but around 70 similar versions were license made by other well known companies.
