The Ongoing Mystery Aircraft Thread Part Deux.

"somewhere" would be a better place to start. Idaho is a looong loooooong way off.
Perhaps a bit of that apple brandy would help you forget about the stitches? After a few brewsky's. Curious - do the Scot's typically drink their beer at room temperature as in Deutschland, or chilled as us Yanks do?

Depends on your age, John. The kids drink lager (just like American beer, really) out of supercooled fonts.

Old farts like me prefer their beer (or cider, if you can get the real stuff) at room temperature. We have an outfit called CAMRA who are 'real ale' men, and there are a few pubs in Scotland which serve the good stuff.

I have also had some very fine beer in the US - a memorable lunch in a brewery pub in Providence R.I., where I sampled just about all of their brews, springs to mind. Not everyone drinks Miller, you know.... :icon29:

:icon29: That didn't last long. Not long at all. I knew I should have posted the Schlaffelkopfdinger Dr.VII bi-parasol quadruplane flying boat instead. <banging head on desk>

Ahh, the Schlaffelkopfdinger.......now would that be the first or second prototype ????:wiggle:

Anyway, I can do light aircraft too, you know...

Thought it was coffee, not bananas..... But of course you are right, Wout, one of those mysterious Brazilians indeed. Can't find many sources on them.

Sorry to stick with the small ones, but I think this is somewhat of a unique biplane.
Looking myself for technical details, engine is French.
Volunteers with info are welcome:jump:

I know this beautifully crafted sportplane as the Graf Saurma GS-V Milan. Engine was a true Porsche :jump:
Its from Germany (the engine and aircraft)

Found the photo in a old aviation magazine (I think). Don't have any info on it other than this little blurb:

"May 1958 first flight of the Himmelheber GS-6 "Milan" 4-seater monoplane, built at an order of Graf Saurma the designer, and Max Himmelheber, the financier."

Unedited photo showing reg number:

I think the picture comes from the (then popular) Air Pictorial sometime 1950s.
Lightplane design of Count (Graf in German) von Saurma-Jetsch and first flown 1955 or 1956. Engine was 60hp Porsche (VW) and some details:
span 49.188ft, length 26.25ft, max.speed 94 mph, cruise 68 mph, icr 630ft/minute, ceiling 14,000, range 1,375 miles(?). Could be flown as glider (15m wingspan). Remember aircraft design/construction was very
difficult in Germany after 1945.

new one will follow asap
