The Ongoing Mystery Aircraft Thread Part Deux.

While looking for some of our latest mysteries I've stumbled upon "THE MOTHER LOAD".

The SanDiego Air & Space Museum has posted what appears to be their entire photo collection on Flickr. Over 5,000 pages of photos spanning the entire history of aviation. The majority of photos are of aircraft, but some of the sections are of airfields, personnel, etc. Each page has 18 photos on it, and I'm currently up to page 857. Almost 100,000 photos in total. I've found pics of aircraft I've been looking for for years, plus a whole slew of models I didn't know existed. A veritable GOLDMINE. Check it out!

NOTE: The first few dozen pages have the photos mis-labeled (out of sync by one photo - the labels are correct if you apply them to the previous photo.) Eventually they get their act together and get it right. Here's the link:

One last note: The photo's are right click/copy protected so if you want a copy for your personal files you'll need to use the snipping tool if you have Vista or Win7. Otherwise you can use something like Snag-It. Kind of a pain in the butt, but it gets the job done.

Great source thanks ! I didnt had problems to save them (with firefox) if you click on them twice...
There are rather small but there's is some very intersting rarity.

Thanks for the headsup John. I think the Bach banana sprayer came from that archive. :p:

Let's move along shall we? The speedy looking bipe is a Great Lakes 2-T-2 from 1930.

Going for the hat trick with a trimotor...

Not going to have much time for this today - I'm entertaining six golfers (including my brother) from Rhode Island.

They are a thirsty lot - must be something to do with all that salty air in the Ocean State.....:icon29::guinness::icon29:

Have fun on the links...or the 19th hole. Whichever is more appropriate.

Going to reveal this airliner as I don't know too much about it. It's a Cant 23 from 1932. (There is a small photo of it at the very back of Thompson's Italian Civil And Military Aircraft 1930-1945.)

Hi Kevin, the Rhein-West-Flug-Fischer (RWF) RW-3A

If correct, OPEN HOUSE please.
Will not post for a while as my PC crashed. Saved my database (made a backup the previous day, how lucky can you be!), but I am now stuck with some 6,000+ photos without proper name and just named photo 1, photo 2, photo 3 , photo 6,000 etc.
:a1451:

Sorry to hear that Walter. At least you have the photos!

:icon29: on the RW-3A. And one to Lefty as well (who was holding back methinks). :icon29:

Not a homebuild. European, made by a recognised* manufacturer, one of whose products has been posted here before. Has a unique feature.
