The Ongoing Mystery Aircraft Thread Part Deux.

That, Robert, is F-WFOB, the MS.731 Alcyon.

Had a wee unfortunate moment when one of its prop blades became detached...

Thank you Robert - I'll save it - too early, even for me.

Just to show I've nothing against light aircraft - try to get this one before you-know-who pounces !

Hmm, not seeing Lefty's latest in my nearly new copy of "Ten Thousand Single Engine Low Wing Monoplanes Since 1945".

Is that the sister volume to 'Twenty Thousand single engine high wing Piper Clones' , Kevin?

IT was posted merely to demonstrate that I am not entirely obsessed with aquatic monsters of the Twenties.....

Anyway, this one's not a flatpack flivver -it's in Aerofiles -(sans photo) - actually three made, Walter, one of which did for its designer. West Coast. Of the USA.

(I could never understand why guys went to all that effort and expense making clones when they could have gone out and bought a Piper/Beech, whatever.....)

Could it be down to that incompetent translation of Henri Mignet's Le Sport de l'Air, you know the one which says ..... 'if you want to build your own Piper Cherokee lookalike for less than 500$, all you need is half a dozen old packing cases, a job lot of 4x2, several well worn bed sheets, a secondhand motorcycle engine, 2 gallons of Dulux white emulsion .....'?

Hi Mike:very_drunk:
You gave me too much credit. Honoustly I did not recognize the JC-1 Challenger. May because on most of the photos in my database show aircraft flyingg/standing from left to right?
Next challenge is a high wing, but afaik has nothing to do with Piper.

Hi pommehomme:encouragement:
Sorry, no relationship with the Scheldemeeuw. However, she is likewise named after a bird. And the designer`s name is (well)known for light aircraft.
Hi Kevin:encouragement:
Indeed from the 1960s. First flown 1962 in USA.

Could this be then the Buecker Skylark N6336T?

The description at aerofiles would fit.

Couldn't find a photo of that bird but that's nothing new with wout's mysteries. :very_drunk:

Hi fabulousfour:very_drunk:
Well done! The Buecker Skylark it is. I think the photo came from EAA`s Sport Aviation magazine. (the only photo I ever saw/found/located).

Thanks, Walter!

Wondering, if there is any connection between the Carl Buecker who built the Skylark and the famous Buecker Jungmann/Jungmeister. They were also designed by a Carl Buecker . :dizzy:

Long time that we had the last helicopter...
