I'm surprised that this has lasted so long. Whilst admitting that it's something of a curveball, if one thinks laterally it's not too difficult to identify - even without the clue which I left in the photograph!

I think this is a Westland Widgeon III.
Quite interesting that while the Widgeon III is the most built variant of that type, when googling for a Widgeon by far most hits show the open cockpit parasol - or the helicopter...

, Robert. It is a Widgeon III. More specifically, G-EBRO with the temporary cabin top that was fitted in 1928. And the clue? That was the silhouette of a widgeon on the forward cabin door - although anyone could be forgiven for failing to identify it as such and thinking it to be a mark on the photograph! Next please.

I'd say that it's the Gasuden KR-1 but for the fact that it has an inline, rather than a radial, engine.

Thanks Robert. Woke up to -15C this morning and about 5" of snow. A near record low temp for this area. Our heater is struggling to keep the house at 18C inside. We are supposed to get hit with another round of snow on Wed, forecasted to 10". Just crazy for normally tepid in winter Texas.
