The Ongoing Mystery Aircraft Thread Part Deux.

Thank you Robert. I was working on the premise that, if a poster leaves registration marks or other ID on a mystery, it is nearly always a red herring (or in this case an orange one..:mixed-smiley-010:)

Here is one a little older, and a lot bigger....

I'm quite sure you are all hanging back here for another one that's too easy.
A rare bomber from a company producing fighters, transports and racers......

OK folks, can't let this linger - I'm airborne at 8.00 tomorrow morning (weather permitting) so will have to reveal the Bernard AB-1 from 1918.

Open House, please, and see you all in a couple of weeks.

Thanks Kevin. Unfortunately my doubts about weather were justified - flight delayed by 24 hrs. Nasty winds in Madeira - nothing landed yesterday - and I for one am quite happy to wait till it's a bit calmer.

Gone a bit quiet in here.

Something odd to stir things up?

I'm completely stumped. I assume that the machine is in an incomplete state. I can't work out what it is or what it's meant to do or how it's meant to fly. I've never seen the like of it before. I'll have to throw in the towel.

This is the Lewis-American Model A.

Mike, it is somewhat incomplete in this stage as the design evolved over time.

The additional photo was the end product. No word on flight capability. Pardon awkward phone grab.

Open board then.

Search didn't find any previous posts of this, but shouldn't be tough for something so colourful...

It's a photo of this aircraft I hadn't seen in colour before, in the last 50+ years.
Found in a blog I'll share after it's identified.
Oh, and occasionally seen with tricycle gear.
