I spy what I think might be a Japanese roundel, but I'll be buggered if I can find a match for it in any Japanese manufacturers lineup.

Sorry guys.. thanks for welcome...work and kids football is limiting my time here...yes its a Fletcher FL23..apparently the tail fell off in flight (ouch)..as for the aircraft above..something seems to make me think its Japanese? (Edit: whoops didnt see DHC-2s post ...he seems to think the same)

Somehow I missed that tiny portion of the meatball. You chaps would have zeroed in on it sooner or later regardless.
 
Here's a nice (non-Bulgarian) sesquiplane. Wout will have this in about 30 seconds given the chance....
