• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

As for its creators, 3 answers are equally acceptable.

Well, Dan, its creator was, I think, Willy Messerschmitt, working in Spain, and this is the Hispano-built HA-300P glider test vehicle for a jet fighter project.

When the Spanish lost interest, the whole caboodle was shifted to Egypt, becoming the Helwan HA-300

I have a photo of the glider in flight - it was towed by a CASA 2111 - one of the very few instances of cooperation between Messerschmitt and Heinkel, deadly rivals !

Thanks, Dan, for your generous offer, but as my G.P. might be looking in, I'll restrict it to one :icon29: .... :mixedsmi: (where's the wink smiley gone ???)

I was lucky enough to get a big biography of Willy Messerschmitt a couple of years back - a lot of good stuff in there !

Here's a neat little twin-boomer for you to try - also from a non-mainstream aviation country.

Hi Mike :salute:
Your nice twin-boomer is the THK-11 by Türk Hava Kurumu UçakFabrikasi.
This unique 1950 three-seater is now in the Turkish AF Museum.

Hi Baragouin :salute:

The L-7 it is. But Hongdu (former Nanchang) is from the PRC.
Reportedly the L-7 is based on/derived from the Yakovlev Yak-152K project.

Your turn please

The ships looked American and I figured it was one of those trips the big Dornier took to New York or some such. Right in Lefty's wheelhouse.

I think the N2D and most of the N2C's had enclosed cockpits, which would make this an N2B or early N2C, but then again I've learned from experience never to be categorical in such matters !

Anyway, it's an Ireland.

Here's one for our new recruits - don't think it has been posted for a long time.......
