Argus As-292

Hmm... East of France? Der Tausend Jahre Reich, nicht war?

It is difficult to say whether it is the Flakzielgerät 43 or the Aufklärungsgerät Fernfeuer version. AAA target or recce.
Either way, I'd say it is a late version of the Nazi's Argus-Flugmotorenwerke As-292 of ww2.

Congrats on the interesting choice of subject, BG.

Hello Danpub,
Luftarchiv says that it is the updated versione of the Argus As292 Aufklärungsgerät (recce Aircraft) "Fernfeuer"....your response is therefore hundredpercent correct :icon29:!
Your turn and please make it interesting...
Cheers
BG

Thanks BG. :icon29:

The next challenge is coming straight at us, if a little high.

Bonus points for finding out where and when this air resupply operation was supported by such an advanced ground control system.

It's a Noorduyn Norseman - they were used in human pick-up trials -is this something to do with that ???

Yes it is a Noorduyn UC-64 Norseman. :icon29:

It is used here in 1947 by the Hagannah's Sherout Avir, the precursor to the Israeli AF before the independence, to resupply Jewish villages besieged by Arabs.

For those villages, receiving a few rifles or clips of ammo often made the difference between repelling the attackers or being overrun and annihilated.
They had no airstrip or infrastructure, and this photo a defender operates an improvised windsock in an agricultural field.

A potluck of RWD-8, Auster Autocrat, Norseman, etc saved quite a few settlements. Bringing ammo, providing recce info, sometimes even "air support" with grenades tossed out the window. Other villages were less lucky and exterminated.

Your turn, Lefty.

Looks like both guys are waist deep in a frozen lake or river....could it be a girl from Svenska Aero/ASJA? or am I attacking the wrong tree?
BG

No. (Apparently I'm not allowed by the Outhouse Police to use a 2-letter post, so I'll say it again) No.
