The Thorp has been uploaded!

Can someone please give me a precise link to this package? I can't seem to find it under Warbird's library, what's new...Nevermind... it's under FSX addons ->general aviation
Actually, it's still under "Warbirds_What's New. . . .second page"

Real close to finished

At a point I had no jaggies what so ever. Irritating!

I'm liking this a lot Oleboy:ernae:

Do me a favor. Pick it apart. The paint I mean. Anything you spot that seems out of alignment, or whatever. Point it out to me will you please.

Note that, the areas between the rudder, ailerons & elevator, are compromised due to too much horsing around to get things lined up. Even then, better off not having the paint go into the control surface joints anyway.

Ed,

Mine did the same thing yours did on the textures, but changing the texture cfg did not work. What worked on mine was loading a different aircraft, then go back to the Thorp using the Tiger repaint. Worked fine that way. Just changing the textures would always load the original red/yellow/white texture.

I tried to download the plane yesterday but the download speed was catastrophic (less than 10 kb/sec :icon_lol: )
Trying again soon.
This seems to be a very nice piece of aircraft, from the screenshots. Can't wait to try it.
I hope somebody will try to paste some photoreal textures on it, it could be quite interesting.

Also, on the real world picture posted sooner in this topic, the legs of the main gear seem to be a bit shorter than the model in the sim. Is it because of the view angle ?

If you're referring to my photo, don't bother comparing the sim model to the plane in the photo. It was taken with an extremely wide angle lens (Sigma 8-16mm @ 14mm) so it is heavily distorted.

There are definite pros and cons to using an ultra wide angle lens at an airshow. You can stand really close to the plane in front of almost everyone else and still get the whole plane in the photo, but it will be very distorted. It is a good way to deal with the large crowds at airventure, but the photos are more artistic, rather than realistic.

Here's an exaggerated example:

This happens with other aircraft that have a working paint folder just called texture, once you call up that aircraft it always overwrites any other paint choice for that model. I usually just make a duplicate of the texture folder, rename it to texture.(reg of the aircraft or similar) and change the configuration to call that new folder in lieu of the basic texture.

You can do the same without keeping the texture folder in place, but if it's a model with a lot of paints then you will have to go through each texture.something folder and rework the texture.cfg to point to the new folder name.

Just wanted to say thank you for this fun little plane. Flew for a while yesterday with it and had a good time. Flies great!

You might also note that the wing is very different as well. That is a folding wing version of the original design, and not the original version that I did. It could be the viewing angle, or it could be a mod. There were a lot of things done to the original design, including a retracting gear, a tricycle gear, and one guy modified the fuselage to get four(!) people in.

I just tried that and it solved the issues I was having. I think that might be a good thing to include in the update I'm working on - Thanks!

For the record. I always create a copy of the default texture folder. Then I rename it to whatever, and overwrite the files inside whenever I do a repaint. Same process for adding others who have shared repaints of different models.

Cheers...its a new fresh colour scheme for this aircraft so there may not be many pics - but I will see what I can dig up

Has anyone had issues with the flaps? First 2 clicks work great. But , if I go beyond that to full flaps, even at idle, it crashes (over stresses the airframe). And that includes while trying to taxi to the runway. I know I don't need full flaps for anything, but just wondered if anyone esle had this happen?
