The Thorp has been uploaded!

is there anyway to add a gray tint to the windows?

Sorry about the delay in answering...

One of the harder things to model is glass. The material settings that make up the glass for the Thorp are very different from what the SDK says to do, and in fact it was "Fr. Bill" (n4gix) that was kind enough to provide the magic settings over at FSDeveloper. I played around a little bit with colors, but I really saw no change. You could back up the glass files (glass_diff & glass_spec) and play around with it yourself if you are interested.

I've played around with the settings of the glass quite a bit. I can change the tint color, but nothing towards a "sunglasses" shading. I'm assuming it has to do with a setting within the model (or?) itself that's not allowing the shade to get more towards the dark side. Then again, I may be borderline at the moment. :icon_lol:

N98BJ, work in progress

I couldn't resist the challenge :mixedsmi:

Awesome work OleBoy! Makes me REALLY want to get FSX reinstalled!

(laughing) Thanks Tom. I strive for perfection the more I wander. I'll either get this paint scheme right, get gray hair, or both. Likely the latter. But I will master this template on this repaint come hell or high water.

I'm going to the store for some hair dye. Anyone got a pair of boots I can borrow? :isadizzy:

The hair dye did the trick, and the flood has reseeded. As I move on to day two of messing with the pita checkered nose scheme, I decided a different plan of attack was a better approach. So instead of using a photo overlay as a template, over the repaint template, I decided to draw up my own. Once I get the web all lined up and hide lines that aren't needed, this will come together nicely, and the proportions will look aesthetically correct. Then all that's left is to add the black/white paint to the specified areas for the checkerboard look. :mixedsmi: You can bet that I'll be saving the webbing layers as templates for future projects on different models. Easily tweaked for any model I plan on in the future.

Considering the other paints I did for the Thorp, this one takes it to the extremes in the patience zone.

You're going the route I was planning to take if I had decided to mess with it...but after realizing that there's not that much beer on the planet I decided not to try it! :icon_lol:

It's shaping up well. I'm confident you'll pull this off. :salute:

I'm glad someone has faith in me. It's been a borderline task to say the least. I've basically mapped the whole nose by hand..lol.

Multiply the number of Checkerboard Test layers by 9 for a total of layers. That's just for the webbing itself. I gave up counting. :isadizzy:

I must be nutty doing this!!

I couldn't resist posting this. The sunset was fantastic. I just wish that pictures showed what I see in sim when I take the shot.
