Well, it's obvious that Roger Friedman is not a fan of Tom Cruise or director Bryan Singer.I'd say it's equally obvious that he's using his review as a soapbox to address German national guilt over the Holocaust and the Nazi regime. I don't think that's appropriate content for a movie review, and his comments about increased Nazi apolgia in movies are overstated.
For historic sake I'd have to say, "Plan 9 From Outer Space" would qualify as the worst.
You've gotta see at least once. It's so bad that Mystery Science Theater wouldn't even touch it!

Every German in WWII wasn't a Nazi, and the author isn't claiming that. The author is upset that the main conspirators against Hitler were portrayed as heroes. While their cause was admirable, they were in fact high-ranking in the Nazi party and Military (thus guilty by association).i didnt even read past the first few paragraphs ... that isnt a movie review ... thats a guy who thinks every german in ww2 was a nazi and they always wore swastikas :bs:
`i've never thought much of tom cruise. i've always attributed much of his success to the writers if his script. top gun was only good for the aircraft scenes. charlie sheen and hot shots lampooned it expertly. his biggest puke fest (imo, sorry mcd :redfwas "the last samurai" that film is so far removed from the way samurai would behave, and post edo period/early meji period japanese culture would not have accepted him, especially the way he acted.
for a much more realistic portrayl of that time period, and what samurai life was really like, see "twilight samurai" or "when the last sword is drawn"
bring a box of kleenex, you will tear up, they are very sad.
