'The Worst Movie Of All Time?'

The only two movies that have ever made me stand up and leave the theater are "Mars Attacks" and "Armageddon." :barf:

For historic sake I'd have to say, "Plan 9 From Outer Space" would qualify as the worst. :applause:

You've gotta see at least once. It's so bad that Mystery Science Theater wouldn't even touch it!

While I haven't seen the movie, and won't, because of tom cruise, I must say the author of that article sounded a little bit misinformed about WWII as a whole. (This coming from a 22 year old). He's complaining that they tried to make some nazi's look good? And then proceeds to say that there was no way anyone in the German Army wasn't a full blooded nazi. I give up. Some people are just born stupid i suppose.

Well, it's obvious that Roger Friedman is not a fan of Tom Cruise or director Bryan Singer. :icon_lol: I'd say it's equally obvious that he's using his review as a soapbox to address German national guilt over the Holocaust and the Nazi regime. I don't think that's appropriate content for a movie review, and his comments about increased Nazi apolgia in movies are overstated.

Yep, have to agree with you. I am a fan of Cruise (loved the Last Samurai), but have no interest in this one.

Walked out of 2 movies in my life, first was a really bad B movie called VENOM when I was in College and the second was Bridges of Madison County because my (ex)wife and I had read the book and loved it and the movie turned everything in the book backwards, we were both disgusted.

I have never been a Cruise fan either, but I will probably see it when it comes out on DVD.. Glad to see I am not the only one that walked out of the theater during the showing of Armageddon!

"Manos Hands of Fate" for the worst. Horrible 50's low budget horror movie, that 3/4 of it was shot just slightly out of focus. They apparently had no recording during filming, so the entire thing is dubbed. "Mystery Science Theater 3000" gave it their treatment, and it is still a very tough one to watch. It's actually quite painful to watch. :costumes:

Actually true, but "The Film Crew" which includes some of the ex-MST3K performers has done a "Riff-Tracks" audio to Plan 9. They also used to do a live riffing version of Plan 9 at conventions, as I understand.

As for "Valkyrie", it looked like a train wreck from the start. I think I'll just leave it at that... :kilroy:

i didnt even read past the first few paragraphs ... that isnt a movie review ... thats a guy who thinks every german in ww2 was a nazi and they always wore swastikas :bs:

Okay at the risk of getting flamed, I saw Valkyrie today (mostly just to get out of the house for a few hours). The aircraft used was of interest obviously. The Ju-52 got the most screen time.

**Aircraft Spoilers**

-P-40E & N during ground attack in North Africa. The "N" is from Planes of Fame Museum.

-Two 109's. One is a Hispano Aviacion HA-1112 repainted to resemble a Bf 109 G-6 (D-FMBB). Not sure of the other.

-Two Ju-52's. One was in green cammo splinter scheme. Here is info on the other:

The oldest airworthy JU52

The Lufthansa Ju 52/3m D-AQUI "Tempelhof"

  • Produced in 1936, with Ser. No. 5489 and given Reg. D-AQUI Fritz Simon.
  • Confiscated by the German Army 1940. Given the old D-AQUI registration but named Kurt Wintgens.
  • After the war, the Allied returned it to its former owners, DNL. Registered as LN-KAF Askeladden it served on the Norwegian coast Tromsø - Kirkenes from February 1948 until 1956. Parked at Oslo Airport, Fornebu for one year.
  • Sold to Transportes Aereos Orientales in Ecuador, New Registration HB-ABS Amazonas. Taken out of service in 1963 and left at Quito Airport for six years.
  • Bought by a former American Air Force pilot, Lester Weaver for $ 52,500. Given registry N130LV, but American authorities certified her only as "experimental".
  • In 1975 an American writer, Martin Caidin bought it for $150.000. Christened it Iron Annie. Register N52JU. It was used at Air Shows.
  • Lufthansa acquired it in December 1984: It was flown to Hamburg via Greenland, Iceland and England. After a year it took to the air again.
The official registration painted under the tail is D-CDLH. The old registration D-AQUI is painted on the wings. The aircraft's name is now
Tempelhof.

Here is a still from the movie with the swastika painted on which they had to get special permission to do so:

As far as the movie goes, it was entertaining enough. Yep, it was just a movie!

No, they did did. Its very funny. :mixedsmi::mixedsmi:

I loved Mystery Science Theater! That was funny stuff! They should play those again.

The worst movie ever are any of those old musicals where the actors hyper-exaggerate every gesture and expression. And that's when they're not singing the dialog. God I can't stand to watch those!

i didnt even read past the first few paragraphs ... that isnt a movie review ... thats a guy who thinks every german in ww2 was a nazi and they always wore swastikas :bs:
Every German in WWII wasn't a Nazi, and the author isn't claiming that. The author is upset that the main conspirators against Hitler were portrayed as heroes. While their cause was admirable, they were in fact high-ranking in the Nazi party and Military (thus guilty by association).
In my opinion, they could have at least gotten an actor with a convincing German accent.

I think that Tom is nowadays better off playing with his Scientology and denouncing women as inferior beings. :bs: I miss the old Tom Cruise.

Hey All,

The movie may or may not be bad but that so called review was unquestionably bad. His viewpoint seems to be that if you do a WWII film and include high ranking Germans they must be protrayed as evil why? and who is he to say so. The man should maybe read a little about Field Marshal Erwin Rommel.

The worst movie of any consequence (not counting some low B/C movies) ever - Godfather 2 - so bad I didn't even bother with Godfather 3. Godfather 1 was good though.

i've never thought much of tom cruise. i've always attributed much of his success to the writers if his script. top gun was only good for the aircraft scenes. charlie sheen and hot shots lampooned it expertly. his biggest puke fest (imo, sorry mcd :redf:) was "the last samurai" that film is so far removed from the way samurai would behave, and post edo period/early meji period japanese culture would not have accepted him, especially the way he acted.

for a much more realistic portrayl of that time period, and what samurai life was really like, see "twilight samurai" or "when the last sword is drawn"
bring a box of kleenex, you will tear up, they are very sad.

Don't care to Cruise myself ... not going to waste money on this either. I'll wait for it to hit HBO.

However! I have seen some trailers for a movie called Defiance ... looks much better.

Good point cheezy, if I knew more about the historical accuracy of it, I probably would have had a different view.

I quit being a Cruise fan, when he insisted (like so many other Hollyweird types) on mouthing off, politically. I don't care to know their politics. I just want to be entertained.

As for my vote for recent worst move, it would be the latest "Mummy" movie:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0859163/

My wife and I quit watching after about 30 minutes. The acting stinks, and the plot is boring as heck. Brandon Fraser shouldn't be proud of this one.
