There's Nothing Like Fresh Mesh ...

Glad you liked it Milton!;-)
i am still trying to figure it out when it cones to texture that bit on the nose...but Ill get there.
I plan doing all the Chalks liveries, including the mixed Antilles/Chalks too!;)
if its ok with the other painters here, of course.
I may try something for the interior too, these are Rachaels original large master textures, a real pleasure to work with! All the rivets are there! A real joy for any painter, thanks again to all involved.
Yours,
rc

If you zoom in pretty close, you can see that this white spot is actually a cleat on the nose of the aircraft. I never could figure out what texture it was mapped to, so I just left it white.

Wow... all of the Repaints are awesome! Congratulations on jobs very well done! :applause:

manecas -- I'd take that one, even without the 'Chocks' on the nose! :biggrin-new:

It really is okay to simply ask the question :)

See the attached for the answer. Sorry I did not document this better.

Thank you for the explanation, ;) https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cleat_(nautical), had to go and see what cleat meant, but I was talking about the red area At the tip of the nose, the " clowns nose" sorry, cant put it better.
I need to redraw that area anyway, been comparing photos, and Chalk's is too small, plus City of Bimini as well, a few tweaks here and there, and then anybody can have this repaint if you wish.
My pleasure.:encouragement:

Rui, my explanation was for edakridge who could not find where the cleat was mapped. :)

My attemp RBBRTSN (Dringrr)

Dear Mister Shupe, thanks for this great looking Mallard. I am a new member with little design experience. But it is a hobby and I like to do this. So for what it is worth, my comments as a rooky.
Top of the engines is not seamless when looking closely. Had problems with the airfile. Can land on water but after that it will not taxi or take off anymore, so I used an other airfile
I enclose my proto version (unpainted bare alu) and a version of the ex American N61105 still flying in 2015 in Australia as VH-CQA. I also saw that the front wheel is not correct in the well when retracted. See you already know that. (How can I open a php file?). Hope the final version will soon be available for the community.

A few years ago I have cooperated with the designer from "rarewings" to make a by me proposed Fokker F25 Promotor. I made the paints, 2D cockpit, and sound file. He promissed to make the plane available for the community. Until now that did not happen. Although I tried severqal times to contact him, he did not reply anymore. Now after three yaers I feel free to make that plane available to others. So it is also enclosed as a zip file.

Perhaps I have done a few things wrong. For that I apolizige at forehand. Hope you can appreciate my labor. Best regards Dringrr

Mallard Model updates:

Some minor updates and one significant one.

I elected to change the blurred prop to 99% opaque to give you more control over prop textures.
For example, if you want to use vivid prop tip colors, you can do that now. (Please no full circles :)

I also changed the mapping of the prop mesh to be tight on the mesh.

What this means to you:

1) Transparency is now totally under alpha control (your alpha must be nearly black for really transparent)
2) Since the mapping is tight on the mesh, your texture needs to fill the map, but to avoid seeing the straight lines of the 24-sided circular mesh, a small outer circle of pure black is necessary to make the edge fully transparent.

Attached is a replacement model folder.

ANd...HAD to start these...Nothing too fancy, compared to Firekitten excellent master textures, but I gave my best...still giving, trust me ;)
A few things need to be tweaked still, the interior panel textures are not that good, they serve the purpose of having a more pleasant visual effect when checking the seats, etc...
as I said, nothing fancy, a very humble set of textures for the interior.
enjoy!

So, welcome aboard !

I'm still not happy with this set of sofas...they are somehow difficult to paint...for me that is ;)
I'll get there...

Details ...

Rui,

That WIP is looking amazing Sir! There are lots of nice subtle shades and shadows around, no flat colors anywhere, beautiful details in the making I see.

Would like to see more shadows or shading around the furniture on the floor and walls of course, but I know you will do that without my prompting. :applause: :jump:

Milton, so glad you liked it so far!;)
I am still "finding" my way around the colourful bits, I just noticed that I started texturing the floor the other way around...cockpit in the rear area, rear area at the front....:banghead:
Dont you worry Sir, I love detail, I love the " feel" of a virtual cabin and cockpit, so I will give my best.Would like to do a bit more on the side cabinets, I would love to see a small Ground Power Unit, :untroubled: some rear steps, and some luggage in that nose compartment....just sayin' ...but I know you are busy with other projects, and the model looks so sweet already.
I had no ideaI could have this much fun again with FsX, after 5 months of innactivity!;)

thank you .

rc,

Having fun is what it is all about my Friend. :)

I am not against adding luggage or steps; just haven't gotten back to the Mallard yet as I am trying to wrap up the Harpoons and working also on the PV-1, and testing the F7F-1 FSX native package.

So, plan to add some luggage and texture those steps. :)

As for exterior thingys, we shall see but that eye candy has never been part of my packaging mainly due to poly constraints and/or disinterest. :)

Also, I never expected anyone to texture the cabinets or I would have mapped them differently; sorry about that.

Mallard N168WS wip

It has been a long time since I have painted anything I thought might be worth sharing (a little intimidating, what with all the amazing painters and modelers here), but I have gotten many, many air miles of pleasure out of all of the models Mr. Shupe and the very talented group of collaborators have produced. I love the Mallard (not mention the Lockheeds, Avias and Tigercat). So in an effort to start my own feeble contributions I am working on a real-world livery: N168WS as photographed at Oshkosh in 2014, that is going fairly well but...I am really struggling with the nose trying to get the trim right (as you can see in the attached images). I can't seem to get past the "squigglys" where the fuselage and upper nose sections meet. I am using PS CS6, which could be part of the problem as well as I am still trying to get the hang of it as well.

Any suggestions on working through this would be very appreciated.

And thanks again to Milton, Firekitten and all those who have worked on these fabulous models.

Wellis, I was sure hoping someone would do this livery; I really like that.

I apologize for the mapping causing this kind of issue. These kinds of issues are common when crossing side/top/bottom maps with this kind of paint scheme requirement that seems prevalent on the Mallard.

no worries - and certainly no need to apologize good sir I still can't believe I have such a beautiful model of the Mallard to work with. I am a big fan of the Grumman "boats" (ever consider doing a Widgeon?-just kidding) and all I can say is the model is superlative as is the paint kit. I will get this one posted as soon as I fiddle with nose some more (this coming weekend as I am off to Las Cruces, NM on a family matter for the week).
