I know he did this for FSX Accelerator ... but is there any way to get this to work in regular FSX?

Ok, so you have loaded Tim's airplane into regular FSX and the canopy is black? Most likely, it's not a texture issue but a model issue which eliminates any way of correcting it without the source code.I'd like to run it in regular FSX as I need a PT-19 for a particlar mission to replicate in my CBI install. I've looked at all the other PT-19s and Tim's is the best. Now I can run this mission as a FSX sp2 only ... but I was looking to NOT do this. Most of the other aircraft I need will NOT work in sp2 since the glass all shows up black.
I don't know if it's a model thing or just the nature of the textures that gives us a phantom aircraft when using a sp2 in regular FSX. If it's just textures, has anyone done a FSX compatible repaint ... US military silver 42-43?

My plan for 2013 is to fly each of the lost aircraft missions found in Chick Maars book, "The Aluminium Trail". I have a special regular FSX install for the CBI and have all the aircraft listed with the exception of a PT-19 because it's built for "acceleration" and does not show up in regular FSX ... just a "ghost" aircraft ... crew and cockpit but no visible fuselage/wings.
I also have a CBI install in my FSX Sp2 Acceleration and can fly Tim's PT-19 there, but if I try using the other aircraft from my regular FSX install, I get them with black glass.
Short answer is "Yes" and I have no idea!Bill Kestell said:I'd like to put them all together in a single install ... hence my desire to have the PT-19 work in regular FSX. His textures are dds or something like that and all my others are DXT-3. So my question would be:
1. Can dds be converted to DXT-3 somehow and will this let the PT-19 show up in regular FSX?
If the model was run through the latest SDK then it probably won't work with "Basic FSX", trial and error is a possibility. You would need a program called DXTbmp to do any conversion work or alpha channel manipulations.Bill Kestell said:2. If not, is this a problem with the model as well as the textures?
Based on what I know and what I've outlined, nope, none that I can think of.Bill Kestell said:3. Finally, is there any other kind of work-around for this "problem"?
