there doesn't appear to be a clear answer to all this then. Some people run 64 bit (with either XP or Vista). I guess if I wanted to have a slightly more "FUTURE PROOF" system then Vista is the way to go (despite all the issues with Vista as an OS). Again if I wanted to make use of a heap of RAM then a Vista 64 bit OS is the way to go (as long as programs utilize the extra RAM and/or are just running faster due to the 64bit). So really I am still back to square one on this matter ......... :help:
Unless someone can clarify further or can put up a good arguement for and against ............

Caught between 2 worlds? You can always go dual boot. I have been running xp pro x 64 and vista home premium for a couple of years now. Make sure to partition your drive 1st and install the older OS first before Vista.
Ok so does that mean at system startup you choose either XP or vista and use whatever OS you want? Are you running Vista 32bit or is that 64 as well? Are you running any of the games I mentioned earlier (my son plays them but my daughter plays the Tomb Raider type games). I sort of need reasurance that there are no compatability issues with games and 64bit.
Sorry about all the questions:help:
So with that said, are there any drawbacks with Vista at all?
