Tuskegee Airmen

I commented on this in The Newshawks topic, but the short of it is, if you're an aviation fan, you HAVE to see this. On the big screen, not at home on your TV. The CGI is just amazing.

And the "Maverick" maneuver you guys are talking about was the only egregiously non-realistic moment in the aerial scenes. II was pleasantly surprised at how generally authentic the combat felt. I've watched dozens of air combat movies over the past 40-ish years, and this has the most realistic air combat sequences I've ever seen, both from the standpoint of the combat and from how it looks. The scenes where you get to see what it looked like to attack a Nazi train from the cockpit of a P-40 are worth the ticket price alone.

I took my grandsons to see it and it wasn't bad...I would have liked more action and less personality stuff but, it was a movie I'd watch again.

I loved the truck run as well!

So how does Red Tails compare to Tuskagee Airmen

Hopefully something worth going to see and not another travesty that Pearl Harbour was to Tora Tora Tora.

Edit: OK now i see the Newshawk thread and the feel of that seems to be go see and enjoy, but with at least a few major detractors mentioned. I guess with the limited number of WW2 movies made anymore, let alone flying movies, it has to be worth trying.

well, as i posted in the newshawks thread, the movie itself is for nothing but entertainment. It is true to many aspects of the story, but is still over the top and hollywood-ized. To make up for that however, Lucas also developed a 90 minute documentary title "Double Victory" that was shown in theaters and on the history channel and is scheduled to re-air again on feb 12th..
