Tuskegee progress...

To all,

I wanted to pass along to you that the fourth installment of the Tuskegee Airmen is coming along nicely. Missions 65 thru 84 are completed, along with mission 86. I am helping Devildog73 with the missions, mainly creating and tweaking the .dyn files. I am working on missions 85 and 87-90 today and tomorrow.

These missions are the most challenging yet, with many long-range escort missions including Ploesti, Munich, Auschwitz, and Southern France. In addition, there are plenty of strafing missions, with targets in along the French Riviera, Greece, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, and Yugoslavia.

You start in the P-47 "Jug," and then switch to the "Cadillac of the skies," the P-51 Mustang. You begin flying the "b" model, and then switch to the bubble-top "d" model. Opponents include the cream of late-war German and Italian fighters, from Fiat G-55s and Macchi Mc-205s to Focke-Wulf Doras and Me-262s.

The last mission (90) has a date of December 17th, 1944. So, the war only has a little more than five months left.

Should end up with 95 to 100 missions total, start to finish.

Some missions have had to be modified simply due to not having airbases at the exact location in CFS2 that they existed in real life. It is easier to just use some of Achim's already built bases than to ask him to build bases that we only see once.

Once completed, I will be building the missions that I omitted in Campaigns one and two because Achim has built some wonerful fields on Corsica and southern France that were missing at the time of building those campaigns. Those will most likely be single missions or add-on missions that are in a separate campaign.

Devildog73,

We could release pack four as is will end up, and include the future mission pack as part of the final package. :woot:

Hey guys,

Here's some mission descriptions to make you salivate...:Banane37:

"title_string"=Tuskegee Airmen 85 - Resistance over Munich
"summary_string"=Attention, airmen! Take off, climb up to 24,000 feet, and rendezvous with B-24s of the 304th Bomb Wing near Masseria. Your mission today is a close escort to Munich. Mustangs from the 52nd Fighter Group will be above you for high cover.
"objective_string"=Sixty-two P-51s of the 332nd took off to provide close escort for the 304th's B-24s. Mustangs from the 52nd FG would provide top cover, while the Tuskegee Airmen would take on any fighters from level or below rising to intercept the bombers. The 332nd would also divide and cover any wounded bombers that straggled behind the main formation.
"intelligence_string"=As you approach the city of Munich, be especially watchful. You should expect to encounter lots of enemy fighters and heavy anti-aircraft flak over the target area. Make sure to watch for any bombers that fall behind the main formation!

"title_string"=Tuskegee Airmen 89 - Der Gabelschwanz Teufel
"summary_string"=Today you will escort P-38s from the 27th FS and provide top cover as they strafe and bomb the railroads from Rosenheim, Germany, into Austria. Do not let any fighters get to the Lightnings while they still have bombs!
"objective_string"=Unpredictable and often miserable weather ruined much of December, 1944 for the Allies. Some days, the 332nd would be unable to escort medium and heavy bombers because the bombers could not fly due to bad weather. So, they would escort P-38s on recon and bombing missions. December 17th was a busy day. The Tuskegee Airmen would escort bombers to Blechhammer North and South, as well as P-38s. The enemy would put up more fighters today than anytime since August, 1944. AAF fighters would shoot down 55 aircraft today!
"intelligence_string"=As you approach the target area, you can expect heavy anti-aircraft fire, as well as intercepts from German fighters. Once the Lightnings release their bombs, they should be able to help you in swatting those pesky German flies!

"title_string"=Tuskegee Airmen 90 - Raid on Odertal
"summary_string"=Attention, airmen! Take off at once, rendezvous with the bombers, and escort them to Odertal, Germany. Fighters from the 302nd will be flying low escort, you are assigned the high escort. You must make sure the bombers are kept safe!
"objective_string"=December 17th, 1944 was a big day in the MTO. Over 550 Fortresses and Liberators took off and hit oil refineries at Blechhammer North and South, as well as Odertal, Germany. P-38s took off and were escorted by fighters of the 332nd on bombing runs along the German-Austrian border.
"intelligence_string"=Due to the importance of this and other remaining refineries, the Germans are expected to send up massive numbers of fighters to defend it. Flak over the targets is always heavy. Stay on your toes up there!
