Two guns

Sorry Rooster, should have done a search really but it was just an idle thought. Wildflower, I hadn't thought about of setting the torque, interesting idea. I think strut location might have something to answer for as well (as gimpyguy pointed out).

Cheers fellas.

As a second/third question, does anyone know why the guns were offset on the N28 and how did that affect the balance of the aircraft if at all?

Not at all sure about the balance, but regarding the why part of the question:

If you check out the pictures, you'll see that the wing is very close to the fuselage and the support struts are rather close to each other. I'd be willing to bet with the conventional twin guns directly in front of the pilot, he had zero forward visability for landings - which is kinda important during that phase of flight.

Just my thoughts, perhaps worth far less than you paid for them!

Yes. The most agreed upon theory is pilot visibility. Also perhaps ammo storage and the narrow-ness of the fuselage.

Hi, Pol
I'm sure, the "Allies" amongst us will be really keen on the Tripehound with two guns. When I look at the above pic, I wonder, that she was stable enough for dogfighting - doesn't she look pretty fragile?
Hi, Dutch
Earlier WW1 sims I played, were "Wings of Glory", "Dawn Patrol" and "Flying Corps"; the last two were pretty good for the time. But they didn't run on my later systems any more.

"One of our sudden outbreaks of violence, Herr Otto von Wels? Are we thinking about how to win the great war, again?" To the nurse: "Give this patient a double dose of Valium, and make sure, that he sleeps. Good night, Herr Otto. Perhaps, tomorrow, you'll have achieved total air supremacy, hm? But for now, we'll have a nice lay down, alright? Doctor's orders!"
Otto von Wels: "Orders?! I got orders at last!" Stands straight and salutes. "For ze Kaizer, and ze Fazzerland!" Nurse: "My god..." Otto: "Yes, and for god! Sorry, I forgot!"

Hi, Sir Mike; I wish I could try the dogfighting in P3 already, may be closer to reality there. In P2, I'd always pick a German plane with the two guns. I tried Allied planes, but couldn't achieve as many victories there, cause ammo was always out after one, maybe two victories.
But in P3, things may look different, and I can't get them so easily any more, cause they really fly rings around me? We'll see...

I think that "fly rings" against the AI is more about the AI being inferior to you than the actual performance of the planes in the game. Human v. human is a better measure of the planes' capabilities, though online lag and the like also compromise it.

Of course there are also some planes that have more guns that also perform well. But they don't appear until almost 1917 (if you count the Alb. D.II).

If thats the case POL, then I will be forced to ....

Oldham the answer to the last question is probably "badly"

The dual gun Tripe is in OFF P3. It is only in 2 RNAS squads for a short time, but fun :)

.................change setting's to "Heavy" Campaign, so as to get my pilots out 4 x day, maybe even a night mission or two!

Cheers,

Hello,
the E.IV was definitely not flying beckvutz (lol) with this engine while firing its three guns, i just found this photo again.
The guns seem to have been mounted in an upward angle, don't know what the pilot thought about it ...

The few E.IV indeed shot down some enemies, but the Fokker E construction itself began to show its age, its manoeverability and full speed just was not up to its contemporary adversaries.

Greetings,
Catfish
