Unknown lever question

Hey Folks

Can anyone identify this lever? I think it's a parking break lever but not 100% sure. It's a photo of the rear cockpit in the Vultee BT-13.

My guess is the propeller pitch control, from what I can make out the BT-13 had a 2 position pitch control (I could be wrong though). Also if you count the the letters above the knob they would make up the word propeller.

I have not seen a parking brake lever so close to the throttle before.

Given the fact that it is on the quadrant and the other levers are a black T for the throttle and a red for the mixture I would guess that P is the prop pitch lever.
The easiest way to confirm or eliminate that possibility would be to look at the type of prop on the airplane....constant speed or variable pitch available then I would think it's that.
If all the Vultee had was a fixed pitch or ground adjustable prop then your guess might be correct.

I do believe that the P lever is for Prop Pitch. The throttle unit has three levers T, M, P....and this is usually Throttle, Mixture and Prop Pitch. A quick search showed that the BT-13 was equipped with a "two-position Hamilton Standard variable pitch propeller". Quoted part is from Wikipedia.

Well that just sounds right don't it. I have another one that I'm not sure of either so after I get back from my doctors appointment I will post it in here.

Those are definitely the elevator & rudder trim wheels. I don't believe the BT-13 had aileron trim. I think the inner wheel (closest to camera) controls elevator trim, with the outer controlling rudder...but I might have those reversed. Good luck!

Well this was a trainer for more advanced aircraft right? So I would go with pitch and trim as the first choices.

I second this one but I think it was elevator on the outboard and rudder on the inboard wheel.
I have only looked into one BT-13 and it was a while back....so no guarantee from me either.

I've just checked in my Harvard POH and assuming the setup is the same in the Vultee, the outer wheel is the rudder trim and the inner wheel is the elevator trim.

Another quirky thing in the Harvard ( and not all are the same ) but the mixture lever in our one here is full rich in the rear position !

Now that's caught a few .........
