Updates of FS9 models by L'Iguane

Like some other users here, I love a lot of these updates, but there is sometimes a problem in that the base model is needed for the updates to work and that model can be difficult to find.

This situation is currently true for two of L'Iguane's model series. Recently, I discovered that the VPA Rafale website is no longer available - either from my own records or from the link on Frank Safranek's website. I also discovered that Ian Elliot uploaded two of the VPA models, which have now been recorded as uploads by Frank. BUT, the majority of the updates for this plane are for the C model, and tha recent uploads here only cover the B and M models.

The second problem relates to L'Iguane's recent anouncement that he is working on updates of the AlphaSim MiG-23. The base model is not currently available from any of the mainstream websites, and particularly not from the AlphaSim freeware website. My own copy of this file came from there, but the recent problems with that site seem to include the disappearance of this particular model.

Is it possible to make these base models available here ?

Although I am (thankfully) not affected myself, I think it's good to address this issue here.
I seem to recall that a solution was already found for the VPA Rafale here. However, I could be mistaken...

Yes, a solution was found for the VPA Rafale, but the action taken did not include the C model which is required for most of L'Iguane's updates . . .

Thanks for the offer, but I already have a copy of the MiG-23 base model which I got from the AlphaSim freeware site a long time ago . . .

My concern is for other users who may not have it.

Not a day goes by wherein someone will upload an Update for a model that is no longer available to the masses.

It seems i missed this message.
Can you give me a hint, as to where I can find this announcement?
Thanks.

Hi Rohan. I have emailed virtavia several times for old fs2004 models, and i have been given a link to everything ive asked for every time. Even the bac tsr2 for example. :)

I do wish more of those amazing planes the old alphasim did were put up on the freeware part of their site

Hi Rohan

You may pick up the Rafale C from VPA at Frank Safranek's mirage4fs. It is indeed stil available.

As for the Mig-23, I picked up an updated version at Simviation (FSX adapted, Bob Chicilo & works just fine on fs9)
I agree with the fact many older freeware tend to disappear and get hard to find...

Cheers
L'iguane

That's a good point, because the flight characteristics of the original FS2004 MiG-23 from Alphasim are quite strange in many respects.
For example, my Alphasim Mig-23 accelerates completely unrealistically, like a Saturn V, and the stall warning sounds even above 200 knots.
(in clean configuration)
I just don't know if this is an individual problem.
I've been wondering if it would be a good idea to adjust the flight characteristics by myself.
