SW, if you do a little test mission, and place one of the Generic Tree 6 Lrg into a mission, do you see it when you fly the mission?

I'm sure I will, I just never used it in any of my layouts. :typing:

"SW ,the exclude is to get rid of the stock CFS2 Runway, that's all."

Yes I knew that and when I went into the AFPNG scenery folder I was looking for something like "PN exclude" and completely overlooked the 0_PM_xcld file LOL!

SW;

OK, we good on that one. The "0" is just so it loads first. Just like the "1"'s in front of the LC BGL's. A little trick I picked up from MR.

Rav;

I'm trying to figure out why you're not see so many of the objects. The stuff that's missing is all GSL layer stuff as I'm sure you know. Are you seeing any trees over at 3-Mile Kila? How about any revetments?

Now that I'm home, the full name of the tree is LDW_generic_6_Lrg.

Just a thought, what is the date/version is your GSLMan.exe?

Thanks SW. More in the works and some updates to the Northshore fields too.

Now if I can only figure out why Rav is missing so much of the GSL.....

I feel like Stan Laurel...Here's another fine mess I've gotten myself into. I've made sure that I have each of the packages needed for the 2 GSL files to work on Pen's PM airfields. I've just spent a couple of hours in MB and in FF going through all the airbases I know had trees and revetments. I went into FF because I could not get ANY of the trees I was adding in MB to show up. Nor could I get any of the revetments listed under "infrastructure" to show. Each object added still has its own marker and when I place the cursor over the marker I get the name as it appears in mdlnames. Nor do I get any error or missing object messages. I have also added dozens of other objects and each of them show up, right down to the telegraph poles, so my best guess is that there must be some kind of scenery file conflict. I'm going back into MB to see whether the INFO pics show up. Apart from that.....:help:!!! Pen...BC..ANYBODY. All ideas considered (and if all else fails I suppose its a fresh install:faint:)!

I'm running XP. Just by way of an update, I've just been back into MB and I'm getting textures on some of LW's buildings and his large hardstand that look like multi-coloured mottling (almost like the landclass for an urban area). I am also unable to raise any of the AAA or coastal gun units. As near as I can make out the affected objects have little in common, apart from being either a revetment, a weapon or a tree.

Hey Ravenna, this is a long shot but...if you right click on any of the newly installed files in your CFS2 install....then properties, for Pen's PNG fields does it show like the pic I attached? If it does...maybe your computer is not allowing you ownership of the files. When I had this sim installed in Vista, this situation would give me fits. I had to open a command prompt and type takeown /? to get a list of options to allow downloaded files from the internet to work in that OS. Their SP 1 has made it less of a hassle now, though it is still an issue. I realize you have XP, and I'm back to it now, but it will also block files. Out of habbit now, after a new file is unzipped I always check for this and unblock it if it shows as below. BTW, XP does not have the command prompt option. That is the reason for always checking first. Once the file is in CFS2 in the Blocked State, no matter how many times it is unblocked there...the next boot will block it again. Maybe this could be the problem???

Thanks dvslats. I.ve had a look and I can't see anything out of the ordinary for those objects which don't show up. Pen's U revetment and all the trees I have on file are no shows in the sim and in MB. When I go into another install they show...ditto for the MB devoted to that install.

Well it was worth a shot. Too bad it's a no show. On the other hand, rebuilding an install (for me at least) tends to let go of the old and bring in the new D/L's with usually a better looking theater in the end. Just have to find some of that..spare time...to do it. :typing:

Mr. SEA BEE Pen32Win, you mentioned previously about bringing up any and all anomalies. Well I just saw a Ooooh so little one. A road that travels through the bay. Would this be a hierarchy issue? I don't know myself. Tried several levels...hate to interrupt your current new build you have going. :papuanewguinea: The location is in the pic. Really no biggie...more to just give information to you or set me straight on something I may have done wrong.

DV, that looks more like the typical road texture-to-mesh problem found throughout the Pacific-Asia region in CFS2 in bays, lakes and land-locked seas. I don't think its in any way associated with the new base install to the right of the pic - its too far away to be connected. I found one that really annoyed me in the 5 Lakes Fuji area, so i just built a bridge over it and made a LAY file for it. Gonna make it a GSL item for permanence. Damn the historical accuracy, its only a sim, right?

There's a way to do Road, River and Shore (VTP Lines) Excludes. Something I've yet to delve into. But will be soon.

This is, as BC said, a portion of the Stock MS Scenery. With a Shore-To-Shore Exlcude it will blank out the portion of the trail on the water and leave the portions on terra firma. The Philippines is full of these little nasties too. Once I get done with my current list o airfields I'll be getting into this.

:redface: Geeez....you're right BC and Pen. Way too far away. Someone hit me. :blind:
A fantastic suggestion though about using a bridge. Think a Wolfi's large might look good there. Thanks for clearing that up guys.

Well...after working on this most of Sunday and this morning I finally narrowed the problem down to a corrupted scenery cfg file. I used the scenery library to remove each entry down to the basics, removed the filelists and exitrd. I found I was getting entries in the scenery cfg that related to sceneries I had removed. I made a copy of the cfg and deleted all but the fresh install entries, then I went back into the sim and used the scenery library to add the previously removed sceneries. Result: I now have trees guns and revetments. I haven't checked this out in MB yet but I'm betting they show up there too. Thanks for all the pointers and patience PEN!
:ernae:

Glad to see you got it worked out Rav. Boy Howdy was that a nasty bugger. This is one to keep in the file for future reference. I've never seen a corrupted scenery.cfg selectively not display individual objects from different BGL's. One's a library and the others are single object BGL's. Whole sceneries not displaying, yes, I've seen that before from a bad scenery.cfg. But not what you were getting...

When I put the scenery.cfg in that list of things to check I was just going through every file I knew had something to do with BGL object display.
Too Wierd. BUT, we win again!!:ernae:
Now go have fun Biscuit Bombing in that Gooney Bird and enjoy the scenery! LOL

You bet Pen. This made me think that I don't really understand CFS2 at all. Thanks again for your help!
