USB 3.0.....why?

not why USB 3.0,but why isnt it backwards compatible? i bought a 7 port USB 3.0 hub with on/off switches for my controllers....guess what?...they no work...:banghead:....ive had topurchase a new usb 2.0 hub...cool thing about this one.its a usb hub with media readers built in.

USB 3.0 is backward compatible to USB 2.0. I suggest it was the 7 port hub you purchased that is the problem. All of my USB 3.0 ports on any of my desktops and notebooks are fully backward compatible to even USB 1.0. Especially my older back up stand alone hard drives.
 
ok ty..ill try pluging in one of my controllers into a rear port and see if it works...if it does...imma cry :redfire:
 
Backwards compatible is one direction only.
A USB2 gizmo will generally function in a USB3 port. A USB3 gizmo will not generally function in a USB2 port...;)
 
Daveroo what brand and model is it and where got from? I am interested in one with switches..... many/most don't have that facility.

well i got this one from Amazon,but it ships from Jacobs Parts,i tried to send an email this evening but it was set back..all my spelling ect was correct..so im going to try the phone number in the morning.i started experimenting earlier,i found that the two things i had plugged in,mouse and keyboard,were working,up untill i began to plug in a few other things..then both the mouse and KB stopped working..so i unplugged it from the rear and (the port bar) and plugged it into the 3.0 on top of the tower,and still didnt work..i double checked the mouse/KB,they are not 3.0 but rather 2.0..so i plugged em into the top port that the bar had been in..and they worked..so did all of my controllers..checked one at a time and all of them plugged into differant ports all over the desktop at the same time..all worked as they should..so..its for certianly the usb port bar...just to put those questions to rest.

ok..im to l;asy to edit the one above..but hows that for a dream vehicle?...

its jacobs part,USB superspeed, 7 port 3.0 USB bar...with power,and switches at each "station" and led lights...i never could find a part number anywhere.

well i hope yours works...mine wont work at all and it took me three hours to start my pc up this morning...what was differant today compaired to last last few weeks?...i removed the 7 port bar.....
 
talked to them on the phone and mine was defective,they are sending me a new one..but he also told me that it is for only small items like a KB or mouse..it wont run thing like the yoke and throttles..switcher ect...

You can get an usb expansion card as long as you have a free spot to put it in.
