USB 3.0.....why?

not why USB 3.0,but why isnt it backwards compatible? i bought a 7 port USB 3.0 hub with on/off switches for my controllers....guess what?...they no work.......ive had topurchase a new usb 2.0 hub...cool thing about this one.its a usb hub with media readers built in.
USB 3.0 is backward compatible to USB 2.0. I suggest it was the 7 port hub you purchased that is the problem. All of my USB 3.0 ports on any of my desktops and notebooks are fully backward compatible to even USB 1.0. Especially my older back up stand alone hard drives.

well i got this one from Amazon,but it ships from Jacobs Parts,i tried to send an email this evening but it was set back..all my spelling ect was correct..so im going to try the phone number in the morning.i started experimenting earlier,i found that the two things i had plugged in,mouse and keyboard,were working,up untill i began to plug in a few other things..then both the mouse and KB stopped working..so i unplugged it from the rear and (the port bar) and plugged it into the 3.0 on top of the tower,and still didnt work..i double checked the mouse/KB,they are not 3.0 but rather 2.0..so i plugged em into the top port that the bar had been in..and they worked..so did all of my controllers..checked one at a time and all of them plugged into differant ports all over the desktop at the same time..all worked as they should..so..its for certianly the usb port bar...just to put those questions to rest.
