Description: Usio's IJN Mutsuki. Nameship of the "Mutsuki" class Destroyers, launched july 1925, commissioned Mar 1926. China station in the late 1930s, the Wake Island invasion (both attempts), then to the Solomons, based out of Rabaul. During the Battle of the Eastern Solomons on 25 August 1942, Mutsuki was sunk in an attack by USAAF B-17 Flying Fortress bombers while assisting the damaged transport Kinryu Maru, taking a direct bomb hit in her engineering section.

IJN Simotsuki

IJN Hiryu

Description: Usio's IJN Hiryu. A modified "Soryu" design, launched Nov 1937, commissioned July 1939. Initially on South China blokade duties and involved in the invasion of French Indo-China, Hiryu was part of the Pearl Harbour attack force, and after return to Japan, to Wake, then the DEI invasion and the Indian Ocean raids on Ceylon. On 4 June 1942, Hiryu sank after sustaining unrepairable damage at the Battle of Midway, from 4 1000lb bombs, delivered by Duantless.

IJN Shinano

Description: Usio IJN Shinano. Laid down as a "Yamato" class battleship, Shinano was launched in Oct 1944, completed for trials in Nov 1944 and sunk by the submarine USS Archerfish, 29 Nov 1944 approx 120 miles off the coast.

IJN Kaga

Description: Usio's IJN Kaga. Converted from a "Tosa" class Battleship hull, Kaga was completed as an Aircraft Carrier, launched Nov 1921, commissioned Nov 1929 and rebuilt 1933-35. Participated in the Chinese theatre, then the Pearl Harbour raid, invasion of Rabaul, launched airstrikes on Darwin, the invasion of DEI then to Japan for repairs after hitting a reef. Participated in the Midway battle and was scuttled on 4 June 1942, after severe damage from aerial attack.

IJN Ryujo

Description: Usio's IJN Ryujo. A Light Aircraft Carrier, launched Apr 1931, commissioned May 1933. Refitted in 1933, 1935, 1939 and 1942 to keep her active. Participated in the attacks on Shanghai and Nanking, the invasion of the Phillippines, Singapore and activity in the Bay of Bengal. Next , was the invasion of the Aleutian Islands, June- July 1942, then to the Solomons after the allied invasion of Guadalcanal. During the Battle of the Eastern Solomons, 24 Aug 1942, Ryujo was hit by 3-4 bombs and a torpedo, was abandoned and sank.

IJN Soryu

Description: Usio's IJN Soryu. Launched Dec 1935, commissioned Jan 1937. Sōryū's aircraft were employed in operations during the Second Sino-Japanese War in the late 1930s and the Japanese invasion of French Indochina in mid-1940. She took part in the attack on Pearl Harbor, the Battle of Wake Island, the conquest of the Dutch East Indies. In February 1942, her aircraft bombed Darwin, Australia, and she continued on to assist in the Dutch East Indies campaign. Scuttled after being heavily damaged by dive bombers at the Battle of Midway, 4 June 1942.

IJN Kongo

Description: Usio's IJN Kongo. Built as a Battlecruiser in the UK, launched May 1912, commissioned Aug 1913. Rebuilt in 1929 and upgraded to Battleship status, upgraded again in 1937 to Fast Battleship. In 1942 covered the landings in Malaya, DEI, Midway and Guadalcanal. participated in the Battle of the Philippine Sea and the Battle of Leyte Gulf in 1944, and was torpedoed and sunk by the submarine USS Sealion while transiting the Formosa Strait on 21 November 1944.

IJN Tenryu

Description: Usio's IJN Tenryu. A Tenryu class light cruiser, commissioned Nov 1919, alternating between China duty and training until WW2. Involved with all SWP theatres, on 9 Aug 1942, she saw action in the Battle of Savo Island, during which she sank USS Quincy with two torpedoes. On 18 Dec 1942, after successfully delivering troops and supplies to Madang, Australian New Guinea, the supply convoy returning to Truk was attacked by US submarine USS Albacore. Tenryu was hit by one torpedo in the stern and sank.

IJN Yukikaze

Description: Usio's destroyer, Yukikaze. A Kagerō class destroyer, commissioned January 1940. Took part in the invasions of the Philippines and the Dutch East Indies, the battles of Midway, Santa Cruz, Leyte Gulf, and the Philippine Sea and the attack on the American force landing on Okinawa. On 6 July 1947, Yukikaze was transferred to the Republic of China as a war reparation, where she was renamed Tan Yang. Scrapped in 1970 after running aground in a Typhoon.

In July 1945 was hit by bombs from planes from USS Monterey, and sank in shallow water in Hiroshima Bay off Kure. Raised and scrapped 1947-48

Description: Usio's IJN Suzuya. A Mogami class Heavy Cruiser, launched Nov 1934, commissioned Oct 1937. Served in the Malaya invasion, D.E.I., Indian ocean raids, Midway, the Solomons and the Phillipines. On 25 October 1944, in the Battle off Samar, in the Leyte Gulf, Suzuya was attacked by up to 40 Avengers in 2 waves, taking mortal damage, was abandoned and sank shortly after.

IJN Suzutsuki

Description: Usio's IJN Suzutsuki. An "Akizuki" class anti-aircraft Destroyer, launched Mar 1942, commissioned Dec 1942. Used on the Truk - Rabaul run. Jan 1944 off Wake Island, bow and stern blown off by USS Sturgeon - towed back to Kure. 6–7 April 1945, escorted the battleship Yamato from the Inland Sea against the Allied forces fighting on Okinawa. Her bow was torn off by an aircraft torpedo, but, by steaming in reverse, managed to return to Sasebo base. Following the end of the war, Suzutsuki was initially used as a breakwater at Takamatsu, then sold for scrap, November 1945.

IJN Uzuki

Description: Usio's IJN Uzuki. A "Mitsuki" class Destroyer, launched Oct 1925, commissioned Sep 1926. Participated in actions in the China theatre, late 1930's, Guam invasion aerly 1942, then to the Solomons on "Tokyo Express" duties, sustaining some damage at times. January 1944, Uzuki escorted the cruiser Nagara back to Japan. Participated in the Battle of the Phillippine Sea, then to convoy escort duties. 12 December, while escorting a troop convoy from Manila to Ormoc, Uzuki was torpedoed by the PT boats PT-490 and PT-492, exploding and sinking 50 miles NE of Cebu.
