USS Nimitz released

I do that, then i have 2 pages behind, all i see than is nimith singel, nimitz group options, i never get something to see on the deck wich one i chose :|

I always see CVN 68 USS NIMITZ (single) / ( group ) that's all..

so you don't get the options located on this page?
AIShips.jpg

Then open up your download and find the file cvn_68_69.cfg then open up your AICarriers folder and then conf.d paste it to there and it will work

How would I go about removing or editing the wake effects from the Nimitz package?

On my install and reinstall of both V1 and V2 the ship wakes appear from the stern of each ship and extend vertically in the air above the ship instead of behind. Its a real draw on my framerates as well!

It only occurs in the Nimitz add-ons, none of the other ships I use in AICarriers have the same problem.

If someone could recommend a fix, I would appreciate it!!

I tried to download the carrier, but I got an error that says it has had too many downloads and has to be put back on the server.
Can this be corrected?

Thank you,
Bob

Absolutely first class modelling and texturing Javier - 'raised the bar' is a complete understatement :ernae:
I've barely dabbled in Gmax, but I'm intruiged to know how on earth you managed to successfully animate the carriers hardened elevator platform and lift my aircraft... I was under the impression that this wasn't possible in FS...

First of all: Congrats :salute: Really a "job well done".

One question remains, even after reading through 31 pages of this thread here:

How can this great carrier be used in a multiplayer environment? Obviously there´s kind of a mod out there for this - but as my friends and me are located in Europe we´d like to place the carrier "within reach" for flying online (IVAO).

As far as I know it´s got to be static - for otherwise we can´t properly sync it´s location among players. I played around a bit an was able to put it in a small bgl and put it into the North Sea - but it´s got no wake, no meatball and the catapults / arrestor cables don´t work. FSXA defines those zones in the .MDL, right? Are they defined relative to the MDL itself or using some coordinate-system like ArrCab etc. ?

@mjrhealth: Thanks - but that´s not what we need. As far as I can see your link is for a mod, where you can fly multiplayer - but the location of the carrier is fixed and nowhere close to my country.

What I need is to put the carrier >static< into another location on the sim-world.

I am sure that somewhere in the 35 pages, some one has mentions there are Flights you can select. The graphics are simply incredible.

Maybe you can make a request to the author to see if you or he can move it for you. Seems it took a lot of work to get that oen to work on line.

Can someone please tell me where I am going wrong?

I have so far downloaded the Nimitz files from Flight Sim, unzipped them and copied them into the relevant folders in FSX Acceleration. I have also copied the cvn_69_69.cfg into AI Carriers as per instruction; I have created a short cut to AI Carriers but when I run it I see the Java Error messages.

I have also downloaded the full version of Java (I now have Java 6 Update 18 and Win XP 5.1) and found the DLL file and copied that into the main FSX folder; finally I have also unzipped the trafficCVN.bgl file and still can't make the carrier work i.e I cannot find it in my Airports list. Having installed the DLL file it says the carrier is leaving San Diego, but I can't see it anywhere.

I am not that proficient with installing downloads but ths add-on seems to be a real obstacle course; could someone please tell me how I can make this marvellous add-on work? i.e appear somewhere in FSX.

Incidentally, I have started to load it onto my Win 7 PC and found that I have to have permission to unzip the files into the relevant folders. This may not be news to many but it seems to be an extra "security feature" built into Win 7. Once I have the carrier installed into XP I will repeat the exercise in Win 7 and gladly share my knowledge in the hope it will save someone else's hair.

Thank you,

Tregarth

A couple notes:

1. You can't start a flight from the carrier the way you can from an airport.

2. You have to locate the carrier, fly to it, and land. Once on board, you can save a flight and come back to it.

3. Yes, W7 throws up some obstacles to installing things under "Program Files." Copying files from a zip to the desktop, then from the desktop to the real destination folder, sometimes helps.

4. If you want to start on the carrier, I've created some saved tracks and flights that can help: search for wilson-okamura in the AVSIM or FlightSim.com file libraries and look for Carrier Tracks Volumes 1 and 2.

I just got done installing this carrier back into my system (windows7 64bit) since leaving Vista 32 bit. For some reason I had to install the java for 32 bit and 64 bit in order for my carrier program to work.
I also did what dswo did, unzipped file to my desktop and then copy the files to my fsx folder.

Found it! Thank you for your help.

One question, please I have downloaded your Carrier Tracks - into which folder do I copy them?

Also, where is the Patuxent located?

I tried to post a list of instructions on how to make the carrier "work" but I wasasked to remove "links" - don't know what they are.

To stop getting all the Vista and Win7 permissions junk go to User Accounts in Control Panel and turn OFF UAC...
