Version 4.1

Installed Today 4.1 Client + Content + PTA 2.6, no any problems (for the last 30 minutes).
FSUiPC is the new, REX TD/SC works as before, Active Sky with update too, no problem also with SPAD.next (just installed LVAR bridge again).
I see rain also now in VC.

This would normally be an update I'd pass on as it doesn't produce any huge improvements over V4. . .seems to be more just minor fixes and the early beginnings of other functions (rain). However I have learned to just roll with it and do the upgrades, if for no other reason than to not be behind in the version numbers when a major update is finally released (too much catching up to do). As someone earlier in this thread mentioned. . .it isn't exactly V4.1. . .it's more like V4.001, lol.

John, Flight1 has released version 2.04 of GTN Complete. Go to the Flight1 GTN page and download the installer... it says v2.03 on the page, and nothing about the installer reveals that it is v2.04, but it is. Do not try to update using the F1Updater... just install v2.04 over v2.03.

HTH,

Greg

I installed using the new version after uninstalling the old last night. When I checked the updater, it also updated the new installation. Works fine, though.

Hello Joe,

FTX Central will never recognise P3D v4.x as anything other than P3D v4.
In the same way as it has never recognised P3D v3.x or P3D v2.x as other
than P3D v3 and P3D v2.

There is now an updated version of FTX Central, version 3.2.3.0, which includes
everything required for P3D v4.1.
At the top left you will continue to see P3Dv4.

I would be happy if it saw it at all. Before upgrading to 4.1 I would start FTXCenteral and I could choose
FSX Steam
P3D V3
P3D v4

After upgrading to 4.1 I can choose
FSX Steam
P3D V3

I just deleted FTX Central and re-installed, its still 3.2.1.1, I am now trying to find 3.2.3.0 but am not having much luck.

Edit: I finally figured out how to join the ORBX fast lane and have FTX 3.2.3.0 installed but no change in the results, I have created a support ticket on the ORBX Forum.

Is it possible to turn off this HEALTH POINTS=1 (in Shift+Z) option.
What is it? X-Box feature, kudos for life pilot ???? :biggrin-new:

31q56it.png

Edit:
I'll try it https://www.microsoft.com/Products/Games/FSInsider/freeflight/Pages/CustomizingShift-Z.aspx .

I did this:

[TextInfo.2]
FrameRate=1,1
LockedFrameRate=1,2
//GForce=1,3
FuelPercentage=1,4
//HealthPoints=1,5

Basically, in P3D health points refer to all simobjects. A simobject with a healthpoint =0 has been killed. Displaying this for the "own" object was announced in the v4.1 version log:

- Health points for the ownship are now displayed in InfoGen text

see: https://prepar3d.com/news/2017/10/114527/

Would be fun to write a little gauge that sets the counter to zero upon pressing a certain key. Wonder what happens then.

Cheers,
Mark

Have to say I am disappointed with some aspects (the front end is pitiful still as I mentioned elsewhere). I haven't had P3D since v2. Mesh being a big one. Compared to FSX with Pilots 2010 mesh the P3D mountains are hill like. Pilots 2010 won't install to v4. So what is considered a good (cheap/free) alternative. I am not going to get into buying much in the way of add-ons again.
so to summarize,
Mesh suggestions please.

Use the mesh you already have, it will look just the same in P3D as it does in FSX.
You don't need to install it, just add it to your P3D v4 scenery library from wherever
you have it installed now.
Probably all your scenery addons will work in P3D too.

OK thanks, I will try Nick's suggestion first and if that fails I'll go for the freemesh option. I just don't want to get into having to reinstall the thing if it all goes tits up, I remember it sometimes took a while with LM under v2 for the re-licensing to get ok'd.

OK Than ks Nick After a bit of editing examples of with and without. Though not spectacular difference, it is noticeable and I dare say once I move away from North America where the default mesh is less defined then the addition of Pilots will be moreso.

Next question....... What are these Health Points =1 all about? Nothing within the sim about it and I haven't found anything by Googling.... :mixed-smiley-010:

I have pilots mesh and it installs into v4 fine

did you get the updated installers from them?

Im using the pilots next gen ultimate 1m mesh and I cant fault anything with the mesh

basically once you kill an badie you can either pick up more ammo or a health pack to replenish your health or top up ammo

oh wait, wrong game, for a minute I thought P3D was a shooter game

health points, pffftttt a waste of energy and time in a general sim use

That's odd since it took me less than 30 seconds to find this:
https://www.prepar3d.com/news/2016/12/113902/
Entities will now report DAMAGED_DESTROYED when health points reach zero or when they are in a crash state when connected in a DIS session.
Essentially, that setting is in there to set the default state to "healthy". This system is only used in P3D Pro and Pro Plus when connected to a DIS session and P3D's "weapons" are installed on the user's aircraft, something the general public will likely never have access to. N

onetheless, the variable has to be set to at least "1" all the time since the core engine of P3D is common to all versions of P3D: Academic, Pro and Pro Plus

...
Edit: I finally figured out how to join the ORBX fast lane and have FTX 3.2.3.0 installed but no change in the results, I have created a support ticket on the ORBX Forum.

Just an update, I got the issue fixed. I had to uninstall P3D and then re-install it before FTX would see it. I still think they have a problem but at least I can move forward.

Hello,
In this particular respect, FTX Central is very straightforward.
To recognise P3D v4 this registry entry has to be in place.

"RegistryKey": "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\SOFTWARE\\Lockheed Martin\\Prepar3D v4",
"RegistryValue": "AppPath",

The AppPath entry must point to the P3D v4 root folder and that folder must contain
Prepar3D.exe.

If P3D v4 is installed in the recommended way, these conditions will always be fulfilled, though
the registry entries are not written until P3D v4 is run once.

Sometimes, after a default installation, customers have tried to run FTX Central before P3D v4
has been run once.

Customers have been known to move folders and files around without amending the registry entry.
Sometimes, Prepar3D.exe has been renamed, usually to P3D.exe and either of these actions
will make the simulator invisible to FTX Central.

Hi Nick, I am the one you were helping on the FTX forum with this and before I continue let me say I really do appreciate your help in getting me past this problem. But more than two decades developing software in Silicon valley tells me the explanation you just gave is not the answer. In my case, yes I moved the old P3D v4 to a different location and installed a fresh copy of 4.1 into the EXACT SAME FOLDER NAME the old install previously occupied. The only other thing I changed was to move the ORBX folder from the old install into the new install. If it was just the path in the registry it would have worked, but it did not so there must be something else.

In my case I uninstalled 4.1 (not 4.0), deleted the remaining files (but not the ORBX folder I moved out first) and re-installed 4.1 and by doing that it reset something that allowed it to work. Unfortunately since I already did that, my setup won't be helpful in helping debug this problem but I don't think it will be hard for your experts to recreate the problem back at ORBX HQ.

Again Nick I am very thankful of your help on this problem.

Joe.

Did anyone notice the F-16 LEF and flaperons + speed brakes now work as per the manual ? They do!! I have the aerosoft offering installed as well with all models and with panels aliased to the P3D default. All those work too :applause:

Best
