Vietnam for CFS2 Beta Release

I'm thinking of doing a few helos at low alt. They will be like vehicles. The thing is the sound will be of a tank unless we have a way to change that. Any ideas?

Replace the tank sound with a blank sound and call it good?

Use the Tick18 to make an animated object? Maybe as long as you don't want the object to be destoryable.
 
It could be destroyable. but its not needed. I'm just thinking of using them around the airfields. On of the fields, LS Chu Lai Main, has some helos that are static. They kill the frame rate. I was thinking that if they we made as vehicles then the numbers could be controled. Therefore the Frame rate improved. I wish we could assign them a different sound.

Changing to a move object won't help frame rate. The models probly need LODs.

Do you have a helo rotor disc that I can use for the models?

Not off hand. The prop_bell_206.bmp isn't much use as well.

I see Allen has pretty much taken care of the repaint. Looking good. If this is the model Tango did, I'll look and see if I have anything available to help you out. Keep me posted.

This is turning into a fun yet rather massive project.
 
I don't know how to take it from the model. Unless that is the only part of the model. If its like the standard prop animation, then I don't know how to get it.
 
With MCX. Go to Option and Import Setting. Try changing the User Conditions from UserSpecified To Always True or Always False. This some times withh give you the moving prop for the model.

Are you working on any other ACs?

Looking for a good F105 and F104 to match what we have. Tango did some work on the F104. Its at SimV.

Also need a Harrier. Again there is one at SimV to look at.

I think they will all need a little work to update them.

What other Aircraft are we missing?

I am not really sure what you are looking for with the Helo props,
But Martin has Props for AI helicopters on his site:

got them. I'll look them over. Warning: Time for some Greek lessons... I don't need the full animation as I have to use the "Tick18" for it to be turning on the BGL model. I'm not able to use the normal animation method like you would for a MDL model. but they might help.

Cessna O-2 Skymaster Project:

This should be a fun one.
I have run it thru MDLC and hexed the code to show the exterior views
I can work on the panel and adjust the eyepoints ect.
I have a new sound file for it
Maybe a new coat of paint maybe not
Will need a Dp file for sure, it already has the hardpoint mounts under the wings
O-2A Version designed for use in forward air control missions, features ordnance hard points underneath the wings to hold rockets, gun pods or flares. 513 were delivered
