Vietnam for CFS2 Beta Release

This is a great project! I downloaded and installed everything, now I'll slowly explore the scenery and try out the various planes. Then I'll go for the missions.
Thanks to all who contributed!

Skylane,

I have a bunch of buildings to make. Let me know what you need and I'll work on those first.

Thank you skylane,

Your future input is more than welcomed.

Way way to many people to thank for help and input with this project.

Rami for making the thread a sticky, Al Simms (the original FS2004 scenery), Werner Vogt, Richard Ludowise,

Plus all the people working on projects yet to be posted..............

Plus everyone that has downloaded it, I know it is an install bear.

I am pushing some more mud and hope to release it soon.

AND a big shout out to Santa, hope you got my letter.

Dave

Tents...

So I'm looking at Al Simm's Tents. I'm going to do them next. Some of these are really good. I'll try to do some LODs. Maybe add a higher detail level. We'll see.

Before I do, I'm going to send the Updated DP files for the T-34/85s. Captain Kurt has helped me get a handle on the effects. We think these will look better. CK wanted the External tanks to be a killing blow. Which I agree with so these should work.

Also I'm going to release my British Bell tents for WWI while I'm at it. I might as well get them out there.

So thats whats new. If anyone has a building that they need for the Vietnam Project, please let me know. Dave gave me all of Al's APIs. So I can do any of them as destroyable.

How big were the Revetments for the C130s. Where there standard sizes. I having trouble getting all of the information.

Here is what I've found so far.

"Revetments: length 167 mm, depth 22 mm, height 50 mm - a scale 40 feet long, 5 feet thick and 12 feet high"

That came from a model site.

That's a good question Blood Hawk.
The revetments were modular, so they could be built to any size.
.
Taking the F-4 dimensions and guesstimating clearance from tail back/wing tips to sides I'm seeing about,

Width = 65 ft.
Depth = 72 ft. Both from the inside.

Also there is a scenery by George Knowles for FS2002 that has revetments represented. API
Ubon

It will load in CFS2, but stutters like crazy. Maybe seeing these might help?

DV and BloodHawk

Do not bother with Georges Ubon, I ran into to many problems with it.

I can make one for you in FSDS but I am not sure that will convert??

Just my 2 cents,

Dave

PS, DV , where do I find the Alpha RF-101C for CFS2 "It has a camera view looking down from the 2d cockpit."
or does it need to be converted ?

You are ohhh so correct Dave. I was just thinking along the lines of a reference (visual) of the revetments plus there are textures in the zip of them.
This base otherwise is totally unstable for CFS2. :peaceful:

On the subject of the VooDoo, I'm in the process of converting. Conversion, Panel and DP are done.
Just for sh*ts and grins, next little addition is a after-burner fx file with the GreenGhost gauge.
It should look nice if the fx file would cooperate with my brain. Or vise versa. :bi_polo:

After this weekend...most likely.

Take Care, Dv

Allen,

Can you get into this with MCX?

Have to do the same thing to those objects as I told you to do for the T34s.

I have an AC47 and C130 for anyone that is ready to go:
http://www.thefreeflightsite.com/Aircraft_CFS2_7.htm

Already mounted with side gun sites and everything.

On my list is a Mekong river crossing scenery near Cat Tou
that will fit in with that. Problem for me is..tracking that river
is kicking my ass...may gave to add lib on some of it ( well a lot
of it)

Dave

Oh is that out of date....

Guess I can make use of the C-47 rebuilding I'm doing.

I found the measurements. 12' x 10' sections. so about 75'-90' x 50' seems to be the average for the fighters. the larger ACs depended on the Base. any where from 90'-120'.

75ft deep x 50ft wide
75ft deep x 90ft wide
90ft deep x 115ft wide
90ft deep x 130ft wide
120ft deep x 120ft wide

So I'll do a few with Concrete, dirt and gravel. They'll be about 5' thick.

Allen,
I am confused: your Quote : "Oh is that out of date....

Please : if your adaption will fit better with the project, please
send it, I can replace the ones on the site, I just borrowed the Ac,
and added the New Dp's , panels and firing views.

Your efforts are more than appreciated.

What, you don't get that. See the fs2004 DC3 conversion thread. You'll get it then.

Looks like I need to finish my C-47 static models. Great one more project to add to my list. :distracted: (we need a  Icon)

AC-47 had the gun mounts both ways. Some had all guns firing through the windows some had 2 in the windows and 1 in the cargo door. Some had the gunpod field mounts, some had purpose designed mounts. Google "AC-47 images" and you 'll see what I mean.
