  • Server side Maintenance is done. We still have an update to the forum software to run but that one will have to wait for a better time.

Vietnam for CFS2 Beta Release

Apparently I'd already started one. Didn't realise I'd gotten that far. Its based off the real horse model. It seems the rider was the bigger issue. The Real Horse has 660 polys. BSK has 340ish. The rider that I'm working with has 1000. So LODs will be needed.

Finally made it to Thanh Hoa
I will start adding the rivers shorelines...Etc..
in the area, Also will have additions to the RailRoad
object libraries soon.
 
Does anyone still have contact with the Virtual Navy guys, James or Bruce...?
I am looking for some perms to upload the USS Coral Sea to the FFS Viet section.

I have sent a couple of emails to Bruce (end of January - mid Feb.) but have had no reply.

..... He might be on the mother-ship or may have returned to his home planet....:saturn:

may release it on the FFS..otherwise people
may have to search forever to find it. ???

I completely understand your reasons... you are correct.

I agree with the principles:
- That all freeware work is uploaded to SOH for the use & enjoyment of the entire CFS2 community.
- That it remains the property of the author and thus he alone has the right to if & where it may be distributed.
- If distributed, that the items must retain the full documentation as per the original author.

Due to website closures, site hackings & damaged servers; it makes allot of sense to keep the donated items on more than one website.

The VN items are for Vietnam so I seriously doubt that James & Bruce would mind.

.... and if they don't like it ... I'll send the "Irish Mafia" over to their house to convince them ... :a1089:

Sorry, I got slowed down a bit with my real life;
more scenery coming soon. I hope to release a
portion of the Thanh Hao area this weekend.
 
Not really sure what I did, But I really messed up my install.
I am trying to avoid an entire reinstall, I can not even open
the sim or mission builder. I hope to be able to get back to the
project by to Tuesday...I hope.

Rule #1 ... don't freak out and do something stupid. Try the simple poo 1st.

Open the main CFS2 folder .... is the cfs2.exe there?

Right/click it and select: "Run as Administrator"

Working on the dreaded reinstall, Hope to be back to the project soon.
At least I did not lose the Scenery or newer objects that I was working on.

Well I was wrong, So I have copied all the important stuff and reloading
the whole computer, seems I have been hacked ?? When I try some of
the FFS stuff " I Get , HA HA ", ATT&T has fixed that problem with the
FFS and also insured that the downloads are safe.

The project will be back in a day or two...........
