Walking in Memphis

Getting ready for the next Merc Air Flight 19 adventure and figured I needed to bone up on flying a Connie. So I went down to Memphis, took off and did a few touch and goes, then landed and took some pics while taxiing to the gate.

1) Passed by this Handley Page 81 Hermes at the old terminal.
2) A Southern Air Martin 404 (I've got an MP3 about this one somewheres)
3) TWA Super Connie landing
4) Parked at the new terminal

Lockheed L749 Constellation by Manfred Jahn with paint by Frank Gonzalez. 1959 Memphis by California Classics. All wrapped up in Bill Lyons' Silver Wings

Hehe... they were a bit higher on the way out of town...

Decided to head a bit farther south and flew on down to Baton Rouge. Nice flight although I was a bit worried about getting down there before dark.

Think I'm ready to go down to Panama to start up the mission....

Great series of pics Willy.

Love the textures :jump: , did a search for Frank Gonzalez at Avsim and Flightsim but couldn't find them.

Any idea where I can get them from please?

Pete.

Frank is one of the truly great aircraft painters, but he won't upload to anywhere. The only way I know to get them is to go to the California Classics forum and PM him there (connie1049 is his user name there) and give him your email addy. He'll either send you a link or if it's just one paint will sometimes e-mail it to you. He emailed me this paint of the Rolling Stones 1973 tour Connie and sent me a link for several more paints for the L749. He's also done a bunch of paints for Manfred's 1049 & 1649 Connies too.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the link. I see a couple of R7Vs that I'm going to have to get.
