WWII Fighters Messerschmitt Bf109E
The model BF109 E-4 was originally released for FS9, in 2006 as part of the WWII Fighters package. A2A was still Shockwave in those days and they were using the marketing name "Wings of Power (II)" for this type of models.
A free update was already released the same year. This update made a second model available the E-3 version. In 2008 a free FSX update was offered, which made the models native FSX.
The incredible paintkit by Martin "ICDP" Catney has contributed much to the popularity of this model. The model is a beautiful canvas and many colourful repaints were made for this model. I currently have 41 repaints installed.
But after 8 years the BF109 is clearly showing his age. Incorrect controls are now really getting annoying and the old faithful WOP pilot is really something from a previous decade. However now A2A seems to be concentrating on the general aviation market, I don't think there will be a new Emil from their side.
But perhaps a new Emil could be a nice project for Classics Hangar once the Dora and Bf110 are released (wishful thinking).
But nevertheless I thought it was time for a new repaint (and again based on ICDP's painkit):
The Messerschmitt Bf109 E-4/B coded S9+GT of 9./SKG, Russia summer 1942 after a profile by Janusz Swiatlon. An aircraft in a standard RLM 71/70/65 scheme with blotches of RLM02, which clearly shows signs of a previous life.
