"Warbirds"

WWII Fighters Messerschmitt Bf109E

The model BF109 E-4 was originally released for FS9, in 2006 as part of the WWII Fighters package. A2A was still Shockwave in those days and they were using the marketing name "Wings of Power (II)" for this type of models.

A free update was already released the same year. This update made a second model available the E-3 version. In 2008 a free FSX update was offered, which made the models native FSX.

The incredible paintkit by Martin "ICDP" Catney has contributed much to the popularity of this model. The model is a beautiful canvas and many colourful repaints were made for this model. I currently have 41 repaints installed.

But after 8 years the BF109 is clearly showing his age. Incorrect controls are now really getting annoying and the old faithful WOP pilot is really something from a previous decade. However now A2A seems to be concentrating on the general aviation market, I don't think there will be a new Emil from their side.

But perhaps a new Emil could be a nice project for Classics Hangar once the Dora and Bf110 are released (wishful thinking).

But nevertheless I thought it was time for a new repaint (and again based on ICDP's painkit):

The Messerschmitt Bf109 E-4/B coded S9+GT of 9./SKG, Russia summer 1942 after a profile by Janusz Swiatlon. An aircraft in a standard RLM 71/70/65 scheme with blotches of RLM02, which clearly shows signs of a previous life.

Superb work Huub!

I still give this aircraft an airing, and despite it being several years old, it still stands up well with newer releases I think.

Looking forward to it when it's ready.

Cheers

Paul

For those who still have some room for another "Emil"; the repaint is available in the library.

Enjoy,
Huub

lovely paint, Huub, and for the others, lovely shots!
Daube, those skyraider closeups are fantastic.
As for warbirds, it started out with just one paint, but things started to continue from there....and got a bit out of hand

...should I try the entire alphabet? Finding pictures will be the challenge, but I'm getting somewhere..

I found nothing on D7-G yet

found an I today, but haven't painted it yet..

nothing uploaded yet, to be continued....

K still to be painted

No info yet on L & M

we skip a few more, but the info is there.

and fast forward to the last one for now:

A bit over the top perhaps, but would you be interested in the others too?

Daube, am I correct when I assume this is the experimental autogen over VFR France? It looks really stunning!

Yes and no :)
Depends on which one you call 'experimental autogen', because there are actually three different autogens currently existing for FranceVFR products.

The experimental autogen from Vogel69, appears on the Skyraider shots only.
On the Texan shots, this is actually the autogen embedded into the scenery "Alsace 3DA" from FranceVFR, with a technology named "3D Automation".
FranceVFR products cover all of France. Unfortunately, only two or three regions/products have this "3D Automation" autogen inside. The Alsace region, visible in my Texan shots, is one of them.
A few other regions have some downloadable autogen made by "AutogenFactory" (freeware, if I'm not mistaken...).
The rest of the regions have, for the moment, no autogen at all.
One of these regions is now covered by the autogen made by Vogel69 as you can see in the Skyraider shots. We like to call it "VogelFactory"

Yes it does and I need to know too.

The pics with the T-6 look more than stunning - they could easily be mistaken for photographs...

I have France VFR's new "Nord Pas-de-Calais" release with "3DA" and it is the best scenery I have. :adoration:

This is how (at least in the UK) 38th Fighter Squadron, 55th Fighter Group markings were first described in around 1963/4, and displayed in Brian Knight's original artwork on the Revell 1/72nd kit box, and in 'Flying Review International'. Cool but soooooooo wrong!!

Brian got it (nearly) right with a watercolour of 'Miss Velma' with 'The Millie G' many years later; I was fortunate enough to purchase it in 1992.

Happy Christmas and the best for 2014 to all

Thanks, that's very interesting; will check it out.

Guys, just keep in mind that there seems to be a conflict between the 3DA sceneries and FTX Global. If I understood correctly, everything is about the autogendescriptions.spb, or something like that.
You might want to investigate on this before buying anything.

I don't have FTX Global installed, can't help with this!

Thanks for the answers and the warning. I don't have FTX Global, but I noticed that the Iceland Demo might have the same effect as FTX global.

But as has been said before, the screenshot look really amazing!
