Warbirdsim P-51 Update

Fun detail of the last pic is that Bill Overstreet, the pilot of Berlin Express, later flew 43-24823, Bud Anderson's 'Old Crow', renaming it 'Berlin Express' as well. Looking good Bruce!

different nose art though, I can'y seem to find a decent pic of the horse on the stbd engine casing.

Bruce

I think I'm having a problem with the add-on library. I see there are 11 downloads in the FSX repaint section, but when I click on it I only see five and non of these are a P-51. I can't seen an option to scroll, change page or list more of the section. Am I missing something here chaps?

I think the ones you can't see are not approved yet, they should show up later.

Very nice work on OLE-II, Jan! :applause::applause::applause:

Stephan

PS: 'Beantown Banshee' and 'The West 'by Gawd' Virginian' are now available in the FSX downlad section.

Thank you, Stephan!

It still had some distortion in the logo on the nose, but I hope this is better:

off to download your paints...

That's a lovely shot there, noddy. Looks really photoreal. I so miffed that Princess Elizabeth had to leave the UK, it was the only C model we had here in Europe!!!

Just out curiosity, do you guys have any favorite paint(s) for the B?

And is there any paint you still would like to see?

Amazing, and very provocative shot, Noddy!

I'm loving each and every repaint, thank you Jan Kees, Bruce, and Stephan for all of your work!

I personally would love to see "Bee", otherwise known as "Boise Bee". There is a P-51C that recently completed restoration, that is painted up in the markings, owned by the Warhawk Air Museum. You can see photos of the nose art being applied to the aircraft, here:

http://s545.photobucket.com/albums/hh394/rossparton/Boise%20Bee/

The restoration features the addition of "Boise" to the nose art, which wasn't present on the original. This was added with permission of Duane Beeson's family.

If anyone plans to do a representation of the original, be aware that some profiles show that the aircraft had green-mottled paint applied over the OD base paint scheme - this is incorrect. It may look like this in a couple of original photos, but it was only a result of the aircraft being exposed to the elements.

"Miss Dallas", another 4th FG ship, would be a great one as well.

well we've got these left to do:-

Bee,
Berlin Express (2),
Salem Representative,
Ill Wind,
Miss Dallas,
Shanty Irish,
The Deacon,
Lucky Leaky II,
Snoots sniper,
rebel Queen,
Shovelnose and Handlebar,
T9+CK (German captured),
Princess,
Satans Son.

to mention a few

I'm really enjoying this Mustang and thought I might get into the repainting act as well... Here are two I've been working on, Speedball Alice is real world of course, flown by Capt. Don Bochkay. The other is from Len Deighton's fictional novel "Goodbye, Mickey Mouse".
I thought I'd start on a couple more from the 357th (I like the red and yellow checkered nose!). Perhaps "Shanty Irish" and "Shillelagh" being its close to St. Patty's day and all.

Mike

mine are all on OZx: bottom of the page

should keep you busy for a while...

They look great and with WAFU's as well, the time I have download them etc I could get to fly them by next week!! LOL Guess it's good I have time off at the moment, mind you I should not use the FSX PC following the surgery, but just had to try this out. Luckily the Misses was not around phew.

From the brief flight I had, it seems to be a good model nice to handle etc. Will have try and get some more time on her.
