Warbirdsim P-51D Little Friends - 55% off!

Thank you Dougal!

I can understand the confusion now that you mention it - we were originally never going to do any of the P-51D-5-NA's, as it would be too much work to fit into the original Little Friends product (which would have only seen about one or two included), and because making a product featuring D-5-NA's alone, after already having WWII-era Mustangs available with Little Friends, didn't sound worthwhile. That was until after we discovered so many interesting examples that were D-5-NA's, and the fact that none had ever been properly made before for any Microsoft-based Flight Sim (save for one or two, which were called D-5-NA's simply because they didn't have the dorsal fin fillet). So Little Friends II was born - which wasn't in the plans when Little Friends (now considered Little Friends I) was taking shape, otherwise the name would have originally indicated this.

I'm always glad to see sales like these! Although financially it doesn't do much for me, if it gets more people 'into' these aircraft, I'm very, very happy about it! As has been discussed, there is quite a plethora of repaints out there for Little Friends (I) (and II), by quite a lot of repainters in fact. I think it would be a great idea for me to put together a data base of them all, so that every last one can be easily found - taking this a step further, I'd also like to organize them by Fighter Group.

That sounds interesting, I have downloaded a lot of them, but I'm sure I missed a few

The data base of repaints is a GREAT idea.

After installing LF2 I couldn't see through the canopy glass. It was black. BUT only black from the inside. Just removed ALL my WBS stuff to do a fresh install of them all.

Any specific order or doesn't it matter?

I now have P51B parts1&2, LF1 & LF2

Dougal, they shouldn't interfere with one another, as they each are 'bundled' quite well, all to themselves. The only shared items are the effects - which I don't recall them being updated at all between releases, but for that matter, it might be best, if so, to install the products in order that they came out - i.e. P-51B/C's first, then any of the P-51D Restored parts, and then Little Friends I followed by Little Friends II.

The black canopy could have been just a matter of FSX not loading the texture on that particular loading - re-loading the aircraft once again should solve it (as long as the textures are all in place). That has only ever happened to me once.

Thunderbolt, I actually wasn't aware that the Warbirdsim website had anything about that product yet. I should expect that the release is imminent - i.e. within the next day or so. I'll be sure to post more about it here, when the product is released. As I mentioned in another thread today, this is the first in a new direction of focused-products, focusing on just one or two unique/individual Mustangs, that wouldn't be able to be reproduced nearly so well, or if at all, with the current models already produced. For the same reason, I'm also hoping that the price of these products, although they still need to be set at a level that will support all of the staff and the website, will be much more affordable, allowing more the chance to experience one of these aircraft, especially if only one or two Mustangs are desired for somone's virtual hangar.

I got it right away and love it. I'm for some reason more into big radials, but since A2A's P40 this has thouroughly changed, and if I have had the WBS P-51 earlier...
I really enjoy taking the P-51D from Iwo Jima and dodging the FLAK around Chi Chi Jima this evening!

Mark, out.

VCN-1, just shoot me your e-mail, and details on which product you want the paint kit for, and I will send it/them to you ASAP.

Lovely screenshot, Mark!

BTW - for anyone who may happen to be using/experiencing the "Little Friends" product for the first time, be sure to read through the user guide, found in the Warbirdsim folder in your FSX-root folder. It provides details on all of the various unique features available, as well as a detailed flying-guide, copied straight from the original manual, covering all of the common stuff, up to cross-wind landings, go-arounds, and other such things. These aircraft have a Two-Stage Supercharger simulated, but it only works as advertised when installed in the latest SP2/Acceleration version of FSX, so for those who aren't running that version, there are also alternate Aircraft.cfg files contained within the individual aircraft folders (as outlined in the beginning of the user guide), which will give you the same performance, but without the 'effects' of the simulated supercharger.

I can find jankees texture sets with out any problems.

Bomber_12th where have you uploaded any additional texture sets you did for LF 1?

VCN-1

VCN-1,

If you go to Flightsim.com, and put in a search for "Warbirdsim", there will be a number of repaints for Little Friends I (and several for Little Friends II - you have to be careful as to which ones you find/download, depending on which product(s) you have).

These include my:

RAAF CA-17 Mk.20 Mustang: wbs_raaf_a68_1.zip

RNZAF P-51D Mustang NZ2406: wbs_nz2406.zip

And David Quicey's:

P-51D-15-NA's 356th FG: 356th.zip

P-51K "Scat VI": scatvi.zip

P-51D 'Yokahama Yardbird': yardbird.zip

P-51D 'Small Boy Here': smallboy_here.zip and sbhupdate.zip

Got it... love it... superb detail John!!!
