Cheers,

My father bought me my first car at 8 years of age in order to learn to drive...an early 70's Mk1 Ford Escort 1.3l 2 door (wish I had it now as they're worth $$$$$).

When I turned 17 and could legally hold a driver's licence I bought a mint condition 1977 BL Mini into which I transplanted a 1275cc engine and stuck on a set of 10" Minilite alloys.

Soon after this I bought a basketcase 1972 VW Beetle 1200cc in order to teach myself car restoration and mechanics. Restored the car to original showroom spec over 6 months.

Next car was a 1977 VW Beetle which was restored over a 4 year period, ever nut and bolt, rubber seal EVERYTHING brand new. Built it in a Cal-look style (very popular in the early 90's) with Porsche guards red paint, early 1960's panels, Porsche 911 headlights, Ford Fiesta XR2i interior, slammed suspension, Imported some Polished metal EMPI 8 spoke wheels with fat (rear) and skinny (front) tyres. Fully chromed/polished/painted rebuilt 1641cc engine. Had it on the road 3 weeks when it was written off by a half blind farmer. :-(

Next car was a 1987 Renault 9 diesel van...a sh!tter, only bought as I'd a supply of free diesel.

Next came a 1983 VW Golf GTi 1.8l restored and modified.

Had an '82 Golf GTi 1.6l for a little bit too.

1986 VW Golf GTi Cabrio.

1986 VW Golf GTi 8v mk2.

Brand new 1996 VW Polo 6N.

Brand new 1997 VW Polo 6N...modified, lowered, big alloys, massive sound system with dvd etc.

1996 mk3 VW Golf GTi 16v...with every available option. Tweaked and modified....managed to get 147mph out of it once...on a private road ;). Loved this car even won best in class at a national VW show. Going to a VW meet one day and hit a patch of oil on the road...spun into a tree and an oncoming car and was lucky not to be killed. Car was written off.

1997 VW Vento...modified and transplanted most of the mk3 GTi's running gear and full heated leather interior.

2000 VW Bora TDi modified, performance increased, lowered on 18" Audi alloys.

2001 Audi A4 TDi 130bhp, performance increased but not really modded.

2001 BMW 320D SE (my current car for the past 6/7 years)

Think that's the lot...had a few other cars when I was in my teen's but not road legal. I've also had several company vans over the years when I was working as a sales rep.

70 Caddie coupe DeVille Conv (the gas guzzler)
74 Monte Carlo (my favorite ride)

84 BMW 633csi (european model-german gauges hard to read, cracked frame, had to sell)
68 Firebird (owned 3 months-sold for GREAT price)
71 Buick Skylark ( bought from 'little old lady' original owner, rebuilt by me, sold to ex girlfriend)
80 Olds Cutlass (74 vette drivetrain installed, HORRIBLE gas mileage but vaporizes the tires on command)- still own her- 27 years now.

71 Triumph Trophy special (still working on this one)
83 Kaw GPz 750 (my daily commuter, showroom condition)

You guys have some nice ones listed in here...and some of the ever so common ones too.

My list in rough chronological order:
69 Dodge Coronet 4dr (bought new by my grandparents, passed to dad, then to me)
51 IH L-110 (another of grandpa's hand-me-downs. it's my "never-ending project" truck)
75 Dodge Dart Sport
73 Dart Sport
68 Coronet R/T 383/4spd (young drunken stupidity snatched this one from me less than two weeks after I bought it)
72 Gold Duster
74 Dart Sport
76 F-150 4x4
48 Ford F-6 (another grandpa's toy...still in use at the farm)
82 84 and 87 Buick Regals (I still love the 3.8L/4.1L Buick V6!)
65 Dodge A100 short wheelbase 8-door van (bought it for $25, won a bet for $50 that I wouldn't get it back on the road).
67 Dodge A100 long wheelbase van (just trying to get paint on it is another never-ending project!)
93 Ford Tempo
01 Olds Alero (how did this POS sneak in my garage?!?!?)
90 Nissan D21 4x4 pickup (one tough little bugger!)
80 Chrysler Cordoba
65 Valiant V100 2dr sedan
68 Plymouth Satellite 4dr
97 Ford F150 4x4

Not-running, "someday" projects...
70 Chrysler 300 2dr hardtop (no, not a Hurst but still a 440TNT option car)
54 IH R100 (short wheelbase...this will get teamed up with my L-110 eventually)
48 Dodge 2dr sedan
58 Dodge Coronet (I doubt I'll ever use it as a project but I have to list it since it was grandpa's car before the 69 Coronet)

And since Maddog posted one too...my first and only bike.
197? Honda-matic 360 (a CB360 with the worst transmission an engineer ever dreamed up)
I'm still lusting after a 450 Rebel thought...the ultimate Honda Twinstar!!!

1998 Rover 214si (first car!)
2002 Merc A160 (automatic, blah)
2008 Audi TT (love it, even done the Ring a few times in it)

There was a chap in my apartment complex in NZ who had an immaculate '67 Fastback GT, in a really bold red colour. I'd love to have an American Muscle like that some time. I'd also love a bike, but I've been forewarned that my parents and partner would injure me before the bike possibly did.

Moparmike- yuk, hondamatics SUCKED ! 3 speed auto IIRC. Indestructible engine tho.

The only 2 I wish I still had are the 64 Impala and the 75 Celica. Both were written off in accidents unfortunately. The Maverick was deathtrap with a 302 engine and NO suspension. The 85 S-10 was my first brand new vehicle and the Beretta the only one I ordered from the dealer. The Ranger was used and was a pig on gas. My current 03 S-10 has 200,000Km but I hope to get a few more years out it.

This is when I got the baseline done before I started modifying it. To make sure it at least was putting out the 425hp at the crank it was supposed to. 18% driveline loss sucks though.

Engine compartment in it's current state.

Picture008.jpg

The GXP and SRT-8 together outside. Unfortunately only have a 1 car garage, and the wagon gets that privledge.

Picture050.jpg

Shot from over 3 years and 23,000 miles ago when she was brand new from the dealer. At least she still looks as good as she used to. I am hoping to hang on to this car till I croak. Unfortunately the way people drive around here the only way to keep it safe is to leave it in the garage.

Little Chacha
I have a Pink Barbie Mustang. it's a toy. Bye. From Hannah.

lolololol.. I guess that counts Hannah! Wait till you have to pay insurance..!

Man... Some golden oldies... TR-7, Renault Fuego, Lotus Elan... Thats auto history! Cant believe how many cars some of you have owned.

Bill

1975 Toyota Carolla SR-5...a piece of junk, but it was my first car so it was cool!

1974 Oldsmobile Omega...basically a 4 door Nova. Ugly, but man it was a screamer with the 350CU, 4-bolt main, 4-barrel carb, ram horn exhaust manifolds, mid-rise intake, duel exhaust.

1978 ACM Concorde...a piece of junk

1978 Ford Fairmont....the most solid and dependable car EVER. I flogged the snot out of that car and it never whimpered, never whined, and could go through snow that even the snow plows had trouble getting through. Drove it for YEARS.

1987 Chevy Celebrity Wagon..a true Old-Lady's car. She bought it new, drove it for 13 years. When I got it in 2000, it only had a little over 70,000 miles on it. I drove the tires off that car. I once passed a Ferrari and a Lambo on I-70 coming out of Columbus. I had that little 4 banger wound as tight as it would go and passed them at 90mph and made faces at them as I went by...a millisecond later, they passed me at close to the speed of sound. No big deal, I could still tell people I passed a Ferrari and a Lambo. I once challenged a guy in a Dodge Viper GTS coupe to a light to light drag. He was at the next light and changing radio stations before I could even cross the intersection. We both had a good laugh out of it and he said he respected my hot rod spirit.

1989 GMC Jimmy S-15 4X4....I ran that thing into the ground. 210,000 miles on the odometer, motor was untouched, replaced the factory fuel pump at 189,000 miles, the ball joints were shot, tie rod ends were shot, the 4 wheel drive system was shot, the heater motor and heater controls were dead, spiders lived in the dash. Motor and tranny were still rock solid...the rest of the vehicle was totally zombied. For a stock 4.3 V-6, that thing had pep...I could smoke both back tires (had a locking rear dif) on dry pavement, with new tires. I put many a Mustang and Honda CRX to shame with that black and gun metal cracker box.

1999 Pontiac Grand AM GT...I loved that car! Looked great, handled great. Had it to 140mph a number of times...totally stock. Could have gotten more out of it with some simple mods. Had to let it go to the bank when we found out about Deb's brain tumor.

1996 Chevy Corsica. I HATE HATE HATE HATE this car. It's small, it's ugly, it's one of the worst designs GM ever came up with. I HATE HATE HATE this car. But it gets us from point A to point B.
