what did you do over the weekend?

Clear weather with good visibility and a dry field (EHHV). So I flew real world in the PH-826 for the first time this year.

Historic Flight Foundation! I need to get back there! I'm local also. Looking for someone to head on down to the Seattle Museum of flight also if you're interested. My wife doesn't have the interest to attend again with me! LOL. go figure!

Tiled and grouted the bathroom floor...no pictures available that really capture the excitement or the event.....:untroubled:

The photos were taken at the Olympic Flight Museum. The museum is hosting the Flying Heritage spitfire, while Flying Heritage has the OFM Corsair on display.

Not sure how long the swap will be in place. The wife and I are planning a short trip up north of Seattle to visit the Flying Heritage Collection and a few other museums, so I may have some more photos soon.

PS - I never realized in my wildest dreams there would be a Supermarine Spitfire so close to where I live. Hope to get some more photos as the weather improves.

One more from last weekend.

At Ysterplaat Air Force Base, Cape Town, where they have a start-up of the only Shackleton MR Mk3 left in the world that is still airworthy, but will not fly again.

Hi zswobbie1,

This might be the only MR3 still running; however, it isn't the only Shackleton that runs!

MR2/AEW2 WR963 of the Shackleton Preservation Trust, at Coventry Airport, UK; it is only a matter of time before she gets her 'Ticket' for airworthiness!

Check out their site at:- http://www.avroshackleton.co.uk/latest-news.html

Yup, we know about our older sister.
Best of luck with her. Ours comes out of her hanger at the end of every month, where possible, for public engine startups. We have built up a Shack sim as well, using parts from our now scrapped gate guard.

Wow, that sounds fantastic; it sure puts a pc flight sim into the shade, that's for certain!
Hey, I know it's only a dream, but just imagine the two Shackletons flying together!!!!!!!!!!!!! As the Lancasters did last year!
Think, 8 Griffons, growling away together...................................................if only!

Slightly OT (but current)..

Here's a (small) shot of your aircrafts port horizontal stab flying over HMS Blake.. March '75 or thereabouts. I was on HMS Blake enroute Singapore-Rio and your Shack did a mail drop off South Africa (hence the ship stopped in the water and our boats over the side in readiness to pick the canister up):very_drunk: Many years later, I was a member of the Shackleton Project MR3 team and happened to drop in passing this mail drop. A few hours later, I got a few pics taken from the Shack. Small world;)

No-one spent the entire weekend in front of FSX/P3D? Disappointing :biggrin-new:

I took advantage of some rare blue skies to get in the air. Unfortunately I spent more time de-icing the aircraft and then getting the engine started (resorting to hand-cranking the prop) than I actually did flying but I guess that's all part of the fun...

Unfortunately not last weekend but the one before I was out doing the Royal Southampton Yacht Club Frostbite Series on this:

It's a Corby 35, designed by John Corby on the Isle of Wight, when it was first built it was a very modern design, with big masthead spinnakers and an asymmetric pole.

I was one of the many on the deck above the navigation bridge (the top set of windows):encouragement: It was very impressive. Looked like the old girl was on a bombing run.. out popped the canister with a chute attached. Much appreciated too as that was the first mail we'd had in a while and the last we were going to get until a couple of weeks later when we docked at Rio;)
