What good movies have you seen lately?

Deb and I watched "The Blind Side" Monday evening and again this past evening. Amazing movie! I found my eyes leaking time and time again. Sandra Bullock did an amazing job in that movie and deserves the Oscar she won. I also think that the young actor who portrayed Michael Oher knocked that role out of the park. I was spell bound by the way he played that roll. His mannerisms, his facial expressions, the way he moved...everything worked together to make that character so "feelable". In the early parts of the movie, "Big Mike" looked like a hound dog that had been kicked a dozen times too many times....the deep sorrow, the deep dispair, the utter hopelessness could be seen in every square millimeter of his face. As "Micheal's" lot in life improved, as he came to know that he was loved, wanted, cherished...as as he was able to return those feelings, the transformation on the emotional, spiritual level could be seen in his face.

We will watch the movie again tomorrow evening and then mail it back to Netflix....but we will be buying our own copy soon.

For those who have Netflix, here's a documentary that I highly recommend. Deb and I watched it while we ate supper (pizza!). It is about the life that can be found around deep sea volcanoes and deep sea thermal vents. Very very interesting, and the quality of video is stunning.

Has anyone ever seen Primer? It's phenomenal, one of the best films I've ever seen. Absolutely essential viewing. Don't read about it or you'll spoil some of the twists. Just go and buy/beg/borrow/steal a copy from your friends or neighbours.

I saw it about a month ago Ickie, and I absolutely LOVED every minute of it!

Today, we went to see the new "Predators" movie, with Adrian Brody and Laurence Fishburne.
For those of you, who were fans of the original "Predator" with Schwarzenegger (1987), then you will be happy to know, that the 2010 one, gets us closer to the original. No more Alien vs. Predator. It is strictly about Predators this time.
I gave it two thumbs up! I enjoyed it a lot!

Cool I want to see that one!!

Advatar sucked, only the IMAX special effects kept me in the theather. If not for that I would have gotten up and left. The way they treated the Marine Corps was a joke! Just proving that once again hollyweird has NO idea what it takes or means to be a Marine! JMO!

The Book of Eli was cool! I love the end of the world stuff, someday we can only hope, it can't get here soon enough! Eli's book which is really the Bible and the last one on earth is a cool concept. It was a moive about faith but it was interesting seeing how hollyweird packaged it.

I thought the soldiers on Pandora were mercs, private contractors, and Blackwater types. I'll have to look at it again.

"Creation", an excellent adaptation of a Charles Darwin bio and "The Waking City", one of the very best of the new independent productions coming out of Australia.
I believe "Creation" has been watered down a tad for the US release, not that I found anything offensive myself.

Heat
No Counrty For Old Men
UP, by far more realistic than the award winning Hurt Locker

Emil~ I did not see the movie "No Country for Old Men" but I did read the book. I LOVED every page of it. I'm glad you posted this, because I will rent the movie.
I did see Hurt Locker- I'd probably give it a . The storyline was ok, but the acting was not very good.

Wombie- thanks for the tip on Darwin's bio. Had no clue a movie has been done about him. I will look for it.
