What kind of vehicle do you drive/own?

Im driving my winter time beater old reliable 1976 Super Volkswagen Beetle Aka Super Beetle. My summer car is a Toyota Pruis which hates winter, darn computers.

Guess I have the smallest car here so far. ;)
A 2003 Ford Ka with a 1.3 liter 70 hp engine. A very nimble little car that doesn't mind the freeway either. It will do 100 mph easily. I can carry four persons (If they're not over 6 foot tall) and a bit of luggage. The handling is still the best in it's class, but fuel consumption isn't that great. The only options installed are the airco and a radio/cd player.

:)

Volvo V50 diesel. The classic 'old boy's' retirement wheels! But I get high 40's mpg, and that matters over here.

No I do mean 100 mph! Been there, done that. ;)

The older models of the Ka had the ancient 1.3 liter engine that was used originally in the Anglia I think. Pushrods for the valves etc. That model had 60 hp and hates to revv; there was even an 'eco' version here with only 50 hp! Mine has a more modern engine, with an overhead cam shaft and electronic injection. Top speed is listed as 104 mph, but I admit the speedometer is sligthly enthousiastic ;) Will admit that the engine needs to work hard with the airco on and some passengers on board.

My personal "preciousssss" - or "Lady in red"

No worries about the registration - sadly I moved houses and now have a different reg.

Some nice vehicles. I drive a 99 Camry, first car after having trucks most my life.
Great car, runs good, paid for, impresses the ladies enough, dependable, but I sure do miss trucks from time to time.

2003 Honda CR-V, 4WD. It's quite comfortable driving and has good interior space, but transmits a lot of road noise into the cabin. I get around 21 MPG in city driving, 28 on the highway and I'm happy with that, but this vehicle has been expensive to maintain. Two safety recalls by the factory, tires and oxygen sensor failed at 26,000 miles (warranty covered the O2 sensor only), air conditioner compressor self-destructed at 48,000 miles (after discovering this is a common problem that Honda denies, I did manage to get it replaced for only the diagnostic fee of $250), struts failed at 55,000 miles, transfer case fluid failed at 56,000 miles (owner's manual states it should be changed every 75,000 miles. Thank goodness I recognized the first symptoms of failure and $75 worth of fluid fixed that problem). It has 57,500 miles on it now, what's going to break next?

The birthday present I bought myself in January 1986.
1986 Chevrolet El Camino. Will have it 23 years this month.
It only wears the camper shell when traveling.

Nice car! I always liked those. Tell us some more about it please. What engine? Transmission? etc., etc., etc.... How many miles on it now?

I don't think I ever saw an El Camino with a camper shell.

I own a 1952 CV11 - the classic gangstermobil. Unfortunately it has been in need of repairs which I can't afford at this time so it sits in a garage. The engine is the original and an absolute marvel, it just goes and goes, sounding like a large truck!

This is not a photograph of my car but it is very similar, the one in the picture is two years younger from 1954. Mine has a spare tyre on the boot which this one probably doesn't have.

Personally, I don't have a car of my own (Being unemployed does that for some reason) but I drive my Girlfriends 98 Ford Windstar mini van. a rather torquey 3.8L V-6 All the bells and whistles. Has 130,000 miles and runs fine. Gets about 18-24 mpg though.

Brian

PS over the last six years, I've owned five cars. Since I have crappy credit, I buy $1,000-$1,500 beaters. drive em' for a year or so and Junk em'. Still cheaper than a car payment.

I got me a 1989 Supercharged Buick Riviera, loaded. It's only got a lousy six cylinder in her but when that supercharger goes, it feels like a V-12.
So the mileage ain't so good but I got plenty of metal around me and my honey. I got 94,000 on her, - miles of smiles! She shines like a new car.

Hey Bob I had one just like it and rue the day I sold it. Never had one problem not even the Supercharger in 124,000 miles. I kept it in mint condition and sold it for $5000 to my oldest child she still has it and I have no idea what mileage it has now, but she says it still purrs and growls when ya step on it. Great car!

Now I own a 2008 Mercury Grand Marquis, nice V8, 26 mpg highway, 18-20 in town as long as I keep my foot out of it and drive the speed limit. We got a great deal on it ($14,000) as it was a sales demo car with 12,000 miles on it. So far we love it.

Three car family, have an '05 Chrysler Town & Country van for hauling all the kids, wife has a '99 Ford escort that is an Everready, it just keeps going and going. My personal vehicle is an '07 Honda Fit (known as Jazz in Europe and Asia). Much more room than that Smart Car, faster too, 37 mpg, and a good six grand less than a Smart car with dealerships abounding.

daewoon summing or other here, looks like this but covered in mud (hasnt been cleaned in years!) http://www.coolspic.com/data/media/90/daewoo_lanos_5.jpg . Nothing fancy about it really, cept the radio doesnt work, steering wheels loose, side mirrors dont move, rear view mirror falls off in pot holes, muddy dog prints all over the back seats and boot area, pretty nippy though. Stop cap till i get me a mini, the 60s model, not one of those new ones! :monkies:

Vehicle

My ride is a black 2003 Chevy S-10 2WD ext. cab with the 4.3L/auto. It replaced a '99 S10 ext. cab with a 2.2L/5spd. What really surprised me was that I only lost a few percent MPG by going to the larger engine and the auto trans.
I guess that little 4-banger was working hard to keep up. The 4.3L is basically a 350CID with 2 cylinders cut off so is as tough as nails. The basic mechanicals of the truck are rock solid but the trim and fit and finish are GM plastic junk.
My beast is paid for though, and gets OK mileage so I'm gonna drive it til it drops.

Regards, Rob:ernae:

2006 Honda CR-V, 2Wd, 25+ to 30+ MPG. 28,000 miles on it so far. Bought it new in 06. The little outhouse to the left of the car is my home. The white stuff all over the place, I don't have a clue?:caked:
